When I got to the hospital, the lady at the front desk said only family could go back to his room. I lied and told her I was his fiance and showed her my promise ring. She believed me because she told me what room he was in. I ran all the way to his room.

"Aleks!" I shout as I step through the door. A dozen eyeballs look at me. I don't know why I hadn't expected his family. "I'm so sorry, I'll come back another time," I turn around to leave.

"No, no. Just stay," I lady probably in her early 50s tells me. I turn back around and she introduces herself. She has shoulder length dark brown hair and stunning dark brown eyes. She stands by a man with light brown hair that is starting to get gray. He is very handsome for an older man. A boy with dirty blond hair that was only probably a few years younger than me stood by a girl with blond hair as well that looked my age. She didn't seem to happy to see me.

The older lady introduces herself. "I'm Shelly, Aleks' mother," She says extending her hand. I shake it and then introduce myself.

"I'm Iona, Aleks' girlfriend."

"This is Ron, Aleks' dad," Shelly tells me. "They are Mark and Alesha, his siblings," She motions to the boy and girl. Just then another older couple come into the room. The woman instantly goes to hug Shelly.

I take the only seat left that is right by Aleks' bed. I just pretend that I'm not there while his parents fill in this new couple on Aleks' condition. He was currently in a coma but his vitals were good and he was responding to medicine. The doctors had said that he had been drunk driving and that he was lucky to only be this injured. The doctor also said he would probably wake up in the next day or so. He had a tube down his throat and a nasty black eye and three stitches the back of his head. His hands were broken too but the doctor said not from the crash. I had a pretty good idea why.

"Stacy this is Iona, Aleks'," she pauses to think. "Friend," What the heck? I just told her I was his girlfriend! "Iona, this is Stacy, Angie's mother," I stare at her blankly. Who's Angie? "You know Aleks' old fiance," Oh yes, I did know her just not her name.

"Oh yes, hi, I'm Aleks' girlfriend," I say sweetly to Stacy. She gaps at me. What was the surprise that I was his girlfriend. Stacy just forces a smile that I can tell was fake. Why would his ex's parents still be in the picture?

"So how did you and my brother meet," Alesha asks me. I pause for a moment. How was I going to explain this one?

"School," I say.

"Hows come he's never mentioned you?" She keeps questioning me.

"Hows come he's never mentioned you?" I raise my eyebrows at her in a questioning manner. I didn't want to fight with Aleks' family. I stand up to leave. "It was nice meeting you all," I say smiling. "But I think I'll just come back tomorrow." And I walked out of the hospital.

How could Aleks be so stupid? He promised me he would be there when I needed him and when I needed him the most he was out beating the crap out of people and getting drunk. This was not the Aleks I knew or wanted to know. Tears spring in my eyes.

I'm driving so fast that I can barely see my surroundings. Crying doesn't help. I slow down and pull into my house. Jim and Maria are home now because tomorrow is a Monday and they have to work.

I head up into my room and go to bed. I lay awake for awhile thinking of the past events. How has our relationship went from amazing and trusting to not even sure if there was a relationship anymore. After he had thrown me at the wall I was kind of scared of him. I never wanted to be in a relationship like that. Just thinking about not being with Aleks' made me cry. I ended up crying myself to sleep.
