Iona's POV

Before I told my family anything, I settled back into my room. It was just as I left it, just minus my wardrobe. Looking at it I was impressed. Horse ribbons and trophies everywhere on shelves and on the walls. I really needed to get back into competition but that would be a little difficult considering my baby.

Daniel was staying in the loft in the barn. We got to keep the barn and the house but we lost all of our land and two other barns that we owned. The only land we got to keep was the acre our house and yard took up and an acre for the horses. We also had to get rid of some horses so now the only horses that were left were mine, Mom's, Dad's and Daniel's. All the spare trail horses had to be sold.

Daniel was out running errands like picking up the feed orders for the horses at the town feed store. I was spending the day with my horse and then at dinner I was going to tell my parents about everything.

I saddle my horse up and head for the woods. I need to let out some stress so I kick the horse's sides with my spurs and she breaks into a sprint. I pull her to a walk when we reach the woods. I walk her into the woods, stepping on the trail. It takes me about 35 minutes to get done in the woods. I kick her sides again but this time she just moves into a smooth canter. I ride her along the land that used to be ours but now it belonged to the bank so I wouldn't get in trouble for riding on it. I hear a car coming behind me on the road. I was riding in the grass field beside the road. I turn my head around to see who would be driving down our driveway. Our driveway was a mile long. It was Daniel in his truck. He slows down when he gets by me. He rolls down his window to talk to me.

"I'll race ya!" I give him a competitive smile. He revs his engine and takes off. I kick my horse again into her fastest gear. We race all the way back to the barn. We get there at the exact same time.

I hop off my horse laughing and Daniel gets out of his truck laughing. I tie Phoenix to the hitching rack and run over to Daniel, jumping into his arms, wrapping my legs around his waist. I wrap my arms around his neck tightly. I flip my hair out of my face and bring my lips down on his hungrily. He kisses me back with the same speed. I laugh on his mouth. He turns around so that he is facing his truck and my back is to it. He sets me down on the hood of the truck. He stands between my legs with my arms still around him. The truck is parked parallel to the barn. "What's so funny?" he asks.

"I totally beat you," I say bragging.

"No way!" "I totally beat you," He says.

I kiss him again. "Yes," kiss, "Way," Kiss. I don't pull away to say anything this time.

"Hey! It's dinner time you love birds!" I hear across the yard. We both gasp and I hop off the truck quickly and Daniel takes several steps away from me. We both look over at the house. Momma and Dad stand together on the porch, watching us makeout. How gross!

Daniel takes off across the yard to the house. I run to catch up with him. "I still beat you!" I say poking him in the sides, coming up behind him. He turns around and wraps his arms around me, tickling me. I burst out laughing. "Stop, Daniel!" I squealed, laughing. He still has his arms around me when we reach the steps of the porch. We both jump away from each other and walk up the stairs with our heads down as we pass Momma and Dad. We both chuckle when we get inside. Before I disappear into the kitchen, I hear Dad say to Momma, "Didn't take them long to get all caught up," He says it in disbelief. That makes me smile.

Sitting at the table was awkward. We didn't really talk about much. All you could hear was our silverware scratching the glass plates. Every once in a while Daniel and I would look at each other and smile but that was about it. I couldn't take it any longer.
