"Haaay girl, where you been? Cause you ain’t been buzzin at me in a min!", the sound of Rosalie’s voice relaxes me. Man did I miss my bestfriend!
"I was meanin’ to hit you up but I keep forgettin, I gots to tell you sumtin’", I felt home just talking to her.
"Then tell me slore, whatchu waiting for?", Rosalie said.
"Well…me and Jay are back on kind of…", carefully placing my words because I know exactly what Rosalie is going to say.
"Helllll nah!!! How?! You’re in Washington!! Sweardagawd girl, here we go again with this Jay drama."
All the color drained from my face leaving me colorless, I knew she was right. I just didn’t know why I have the small hope that things’ll work out.
"Wait uh min babychild, I ain’t finished! I think..maybe…I have some kind of feeling towards Andres. Like…this pull towards him.", I replied while looking at the mirror and getting back to doing my makeup.
"You sound like that girl on that balcony right now, all gushy and mushy confused about love when she found out the boy she liked was a montasomething."
Applying my eyeliner gently on my lid with one hand was a piece of cake.
"You mean Juliet when she found out Romeo was a montague?", I giggled.
"Whateva, the point is honey…You can’t be thinkin’ bout both of ‘em. So I suggest you pick one and stop being confused. ‘Member? You’re there to focus on gettin big bucks and big fame baby!", I can hear her emphasize the words ‘Big’.
Brushing on my blush, 'Yeah, yeah. I know, big bucks and big fame to feed the crew. I ain't lose sight of the big prize don't worry, but could you do me a favor?”
I noticed I missed a spot on my cheek. Grabbing my bronzer, I made the correction on my face.
"Yeuh what is it girl?", I visualized Rosalie’s eyebrows stitch while waiting for my reply.
"Keep a close eye on Jay. I’m not sure to trust him yet."
"ooooo, Rosalie gotta play spy? I gotchu doe!",she said.
Searching in my makeup for the last detail to my masterpiece on my face,”Thanks girl. I gots to go though, we leavin to some fancy restaurant.”
"Haha alright. Remember girl, big bucks and big fame! You already feasting big with the rich white people I see.", she laughed.
"FYI, they asian! and Latoya is black! so skrrttt! Bye ahaha.",I finally found my red lipcstick.
The line went dead and then I returned back to Handford, Washington. I’m homesick. Moving the lipstick from the top lip to the bottom, my face brightens up as the red on my lips glow upon my olive skin tone. I looked beautiful, I just didn’t feel like it. My stomach that was once filled with butterflies is now being bitten from the inside by venemous snakes. I don’t understand my emotions right now, I really don’t.
The dress I had on clinged onto my body, making me look shapely. It had lace over the silk underneath, and the back of the dress was longer than the front. This should be good enough, right? Fancy dinners, I’ve never been to fancy anything. I remember last year when I bought my homecoming dress on a clearance rack at Charlotte Russe for five bucks. I wonder where we’re going, who’ll be there, what’s going on, and…I wonder if Andres will look at me ever again. Why does it feel like I shouldn’t have looked at my phone when it rung last night? Why does it feel like I should have kissed him. If anything, I shouldn’t have told him about Jay so soon. Why do I feel this way?
