If anyone thought they could tell her she had to go to University, leave it to Nani to be that person. Leave anything to Nani and she can be that person, except for responsibility. Or probably being left alone with a child. You know what? Without at least two backups, don't leave anything to Nani.
Well, besides maybe, sometimes, possibly, being a good big sister. Now, was not one of those times. Except that it was, only I can't say that because the government is probably bugging this area right now and everything I'm about to say will get released into the world. Most likely in combination with an Alien cover-up. Stitch agrees, but going back now would be pointless, so I'm just going to have to trust that the government is not leaking this information.
If I ignore the bugs (that Nani and David say don't exist, but what do they know? They don't watch the news) then I was left alone in the kitchen with Nani, David, and Stitch spinning around on one of those spinning bar chairs next to me.
It was not what I would call an ideal situation and after already blaming experiments for missing this talk twice already, there was no way out of it. There was also no experiments to blame it on, but she wasn't sure whether or not they knew that. If so, it was probably Bubbles, or some other guy in a suit.
Rule #001: Never trust a guy in a suit.
"Lilo, I know you tried Uni, and you decided it wasn't for you but it's been a while. You should really go back to it."
This was not a new approach to the subject, so I huffed. "School blows Nani. I was there for basically forever, and if the government really is using high tech time devices to keep us from the passage of time and shoving us through a loop, then I mean that literally as well."
There was the notable pause in which Nani looked at David as if I were a mental patient under evaluation. They did not like that analogy.
"Come on babe," David pleaded, well probably not pleaded but his puppy dog eyes were always pleading. "You'll be the first in the family to graduate."
This, was a new approach, one that did not seem fair in the least. "You guys didn't even go yet your getting on me about all of this!"
Offended, Nani placed a hand on her hip. "I barely made it out of high school, I had better things to do."
"Like surf?" It scoffed, knowing how great of a surfer she used to be, it was hard to blame her and yet here she was yelling at me about it. It took away any credibility she might have had.
She leaned forwards ever so slightly. "Yes like surf, and I was good at it too. At least I had a legit reason to drop."
Not wanting to argue of something so stupid, even though I could have too easily won, I cocked my head at David, who rose his hands in surrender. "I went for a while, but I couldn't keep up with it? Ya know?" He dragged a hand threw his hair with the last part, a token motion if I ever saw one.
