How dare no one tell me she was getting married, the audacity of some people. I have been around these people my whole stinking life but does anyone bother to tell me about the damned proposal? No. I am just left to go play arcade games with a some chick who is more into the video game character than she is in me! What was the big idea with that whole stunt anyways, its not like the thing was talking to her.
My feet thudded against the ground as I continued to storm up the dirt road, suppressing a scream deep inside of me. If I listened, ignoring all the cursing inside my head, I could hear Boo's feet strumming up the way behind me, shouting my name.
Naturally, I ignored her, even though I couldn't clear my mind to hear if she said anything besides my name. Too many girls have said my name, I couldn't even tell who was chasing me anymore. Couldn't tell whose soft hand it was that clasped around me arm. "Listen to me when I'm talking to you!"
Her voice was a not a shout, but more of a raised voice. Girls did not speak to me in a voice like that. That is how girls end up dead. So, instead of lashing, I let myself be pulled into a stop. Despite my superb listening skills, that did not mean I had to cooperate so I snapped, "What?"
Boo breathed sharply, and my eyes focused on her lips as she did so. "What happened?"
Temporarily lost in thought, I only pursed my lips at the question before remembering to speak. Even then, it was like talking to someone online, I hesitated before clicking send. "Nani and David are getting married."
I tried not to wander back to the fact that I had just compared the proposal to talking to online strangers, I let my gaze fall upon her lips once more, awaiting response.
"Well that's great."
What a stupid child, she didn't understand anything. I don't know why I thought she might, Monsters must represent the less intelligent class.
"That's not the freaking issue." I cursed. "They didn't tell me it was happening."
I watched as Boo's teeth appeared to bite into her lower lip, a habit it seemed I would never tire of, no matter how frustrated and angry I was at her. At everyone. At the world.
Bloody Hell.
"Well-" She began, shoving her hands in her overall pockets. "-did you expect to be included in the proposal?"
I rolled my eyes, desperate to show how annoyed I was with her, and not how turned on her stupid little habits made me. "No, I just expected to be let know of the 411."
Her teeth were on her lips again, so I focused on her nose instead as to not get distracted and keep my anger. "She texted you, didn't she? She could have waited for you to get home or wait for you to notice the ring."
My eyes shot to the ground, ignoring her summer freckles. "It at least warranted a phone call.
The issue was not that I desired to be the center of attention, despite what Boo suggested only a moment later. The issue was... I struggled to explain, ending my pitiful bout of words with a roar of frustration. "Can't you just let me wallow in my sorrows?" I shouted, suddenly pleased with myself for how Boo-like the statement sounded.
