Cowboy Boots and an Alpha Mate (On Hold)

Chapter Two

~Quinn's P.o.V.~

I was about to turn and track the source of the mouthwatering smell, but as quickly as I caught it, it was gone.

I continued my mental battle with myself for about 2 minutes. I had decided to go get my schedule and to play a little game with my mate. If I smelled him, he smelled me. No way was I, Quinn Hall, going to roll over and turn completely submissive to his every wish. I wanted to have a little fun first.

I walked into the office to find a nice looking, older woman behind a desk. I cleared my throat when I realized she hadn't noticed me.

"Excuse me, ma'am, I'm new here. This is my first d..." She cut me off.

"Oh! You must be Quinn! Nice to finally meet you!" Began the woman looking up. We talked for a little while after she handed me my schedule as I waited for my tour guide to come. I found out she belongs to the one other pack that lives in this area, the Moon Shadow Pack. They were huge, 2nd largest pack on the west side of the country. We had just finished discussing music when a little bell over the door chimed signaling my tour guide's arrival. I was shocked, to say the least, when I turned around.

"Hey, I'm Colton, I will show you around today," said one of the most attractive guys I'd ever seen. He had chocolate brown eyes and a perfectly sculpted body. He gave me what must have been his signature smirk when he saw my obvious amazement.

"What? Cat's got your tongue?" He asked. It was easy to see the amusement in his eyes.

"The bell's going to ring in about 5 minutes. I think it'd be best to get Ms.Hall here to history, with Mr.Jones." Said who I now know as Mrs.Baker. I need to remember to thank her later for saving me.

Colton took me through the maze that they call a school, towards the right classroom. All the classrooms that shared a wall along the hallway had massive windows. You could see through the whole classroom without even stepping inside. Along the way we talked a little bit, and I found out he was beta of the Moon Shadow Pack. He told me about Ethan, the alpha, and even though they are best friends, he did tell me he was a player. I smiled as I was hit with the heavenly aroma of pine and spice. It was getting stronger as we passed one classroom so I decided to play around a little bit.

"Hey Colton, I gotta ask, do you have a girlfriend?" I asked. I made sure I was loud enough that whoever my mate was could hear me with werewolf hearing and all, but not any humans. I flicked my hair over my shoulders and nudged Colton a little bit, making sure that my hair fanned out my scent.

He blushed slightly for a moment but quickly covered it up, "Nah, I'm about to turn 16 so I'm waiting for my mate." He kicked at a pencil on the ground before speaking again. "So this is Mr.Jones' room. And you have math next which is right across the hall. So I'll see you at lunch?"

"Sure! Thanks by the way!" Deciding to flirt with him just a little, I sent him a wink before heading into history.

I was a minute early, so I introduced myself to Mr.Jones and took a seat at the back of the class. The classrooms that shared a wall didn't share a true wall, just one of those fairly noise canceling folding ones. The ones that moved and had a draft coming through them. I grinned to myself and nearly started drooling when I caught his scent wafting through the wall. Cayenne was losing it.

I sat through history, and managed not to get caught zoning off smelling my mate's scent. When the bell rang, I couldn't get out of there quick enough. I had to know what my mate looked like. Would he be a cute, shy nerd? Hopefully not a super stuck up, popular jock. I guess the anticipation was killing him, too, because as soon as I stepped out of the classroom I locked eyes with the most dazzling green eyes I'd ever seen.

"Mate!" Screamed Cayenne, howling in joy.
