Cowboy Boots and an Alpha Mate (On Hold)

Chapter Five

~Ethan's P.o.V~ (Felt like changing it up a little)

As soon as Nicole asked Quinn to accompany her to the bathroom, I knew something was up. My wolf was on edge, begging me to go with them. I wanted Quinn to have her freedom, not worrying about constantly being followed by me. I don't even think she knows my name yet. I pushed the nagging feeling to the back of my brain and tried to keep up a conversation with Clayton, I think, until they got back. We were in the middle of discussing training tactics when a very frantic Nicole ran up to our table.

"Quinn! Hallway! Attack!" Nicole was freaking out. Chris stood up, hugging her, and calmed her down enough so that she could explain what happened. My wolf, Ponder, was yelling at me to go find Quinn, but I needed to listen to what Nicole said, so I won't go charging in blind to what happened.

"Before we left, she mindlinked me to make an excuse to get both me and her away for awhile. She said it was important." Ponder was on edge already, and now he felt as though she left just to get away from us. Nicole looked to me, and I nodded my head for her to continue.

"As soon as we were out of hearing range, she stopped me and explained how you guys are mates." Some of the other people at the table looked at me, and this would have been quite a happy moment if not for the fact Quinn wasn't with us, and was possibly gone. With the ending of that thought, my wolf growled. I blocked him out so I could keep listening without him screaming at me.

"She was just about to tell me something else, but then this guy came up. Almost out of nowhere, and he slung his arm around her waist. She said, um, I think she said 'Can I help you?' and he said, uh, 'No, not really, just thought a pretty girl like you might want some company.' After he said that she must have noticed something, because she mindliked me to come tell you guys. I was about to argue but she shut off the mindlink."

I could feel my eyes shifting between mine and my wolf's, and was about to go after Quinn, when I saw her beautiful face pop up at the end of the cafeteria. She ran up to me and I pulled her into a much needed hug. I buried my nose in her hair to calm down my wolf. She was ok. My mate was ok.

She began to pull away, so I reluctanty released her. I thought she was about to say something when my beta, Colton, came up to the table, bowing his head slighlty in respect.

"Alpha! Rouges have been spotted on the western border! We outnumbered them and took them as prisoners. They are waiting for interogation in the cells. 3 males and 2 females. They would not state a purpose for being on our land." Colton must have just realized that Quinn was there, because I felt her start to shuffle away. I put my arm around her waist to keep her close. I wasn't willing to let her be far from me after what just happened. I thanked and dissmissed him before looking back at Quinn.

"Sorry about that, were you about to say something?"

"Well, yeah, kinda, I was wondering if I could still take you up on your offer?" I was going to say yes, but I waited a moment before saying so, just to watch her make puppy dog eyes at me for as long as I could.

"Of course"

She smiled, she smiled a smile that made my heart flutter. And that's saying something coming from a guy! I watched as she walked away to go dump her tray, and I decided to give her a small scare. I said goodbye to eveyone and quietly snuck up behind her. Right before she could turn around, I scooped her up and put her over my shoulder. I ran outside before she could start screaming at me. She must have realized it was me, because half way to the car she stopped pounding on my back. Secretly, I was kind of glad, those might leave a few bruises. She can sure hit hard for a girl! I set her down when we aproached my black Mustang GT. I set her down, only to have my hearing damaged by how loud she yelled.

"DON'T SCARE ME LIKE THAT!"

I held back a laugh and put my hands up in mock surrender. I was about to say sorry, but she jumped in the passenger seat of the car and locked the doors! I got out my keys that had that little remote thingy, and hit unlock. I tried to open the door, only to find she had locked it again! We went back and forth like that for about two minutes. I finally was able to use my wolf speed and open the door. I sat down in the seat and then looked over to my perfect mate. She was biting her lip, and even that super small gesture had my wolf wanting to mark her.

"Do that again, and I won't be able to hold myself back."

"Do what?" I knew she was biting her lip again on purpose, no matter how innocent she tried to look.

I couldn't stop myself, I leaned over and placed my lips on hers, while cupping the back of her head. It was the most mind blowing kiss I'd ever had. I savoured every beautiful moment of it. She pulled back for air, but rested her forehead on mine.

I looked her in the eyes, "You're going to be the death of me."

We shared one more small kiss before pulling all the way back and buckling in.

"I don't really want to go home, I don't want to have to explain everything to my parents quite yet," She said simply.

I smirked, "Good, because my parents want to meet you." I knew she was about to protest, so I quickly started the engine and pealed out of the parking lot, towards the pack house.
