You were a casual figure skating fan. Okay, maybe you were a little more enthusiastic about the sport than that, considering you have flown to different countries to attend competitions simply for fun and your love of the sport.

Speaking of, on this particular day, you were getting back to Canada after taking the weekend away for yourself to be present at one of these competitions in America. You went to see some of your favorite skaters along with visiting some of your abroad friends.

Your plane landed at the airport in the early morning hours and you were glad it wasn't a trip that caused terrible jet lag. You knew another plane had flown in at the same time, but you were surprised at the lack of people in the airport. It wasn't a ghost town, but at the same time, it wasn't crowded.

You walked at a modest speed but your focus was on the phone screen in your hand as you checked your messages as you hadn't texted anyone much while you were away. You tuned out your surroundings until you felt your shoulder collide with another; with someone much taller and more muscular than you, causing your phone to almost fall out of your hand.

"I'm sorry," you both said.

You looked up and your eyes widened at the face you saw--JJ Leroy. The JJ Leroy. Jean-Jacques Leroy. The Jean-Jacques Leroy. You had watched him skate countless times on television and in person. You weren't for the whole "JJ Style" thing or insane fanbase he acquired, but you genuinely admired his unique skating ability and also the charities you knew he worked very hard with.

"JJ Leroy," you whispered before grasping your luggage and running through the airport.

You didn't know what came over you, but there was no thought in your mind besides getting as far away from the young man as possible. You only glanced back for a brief second to witness some girls herding around him, yet his sight was still stuck on you.

A few days passed and you had slapped yourself in every way possible after missing your chance to say something decent to JJ. Your friends had laughed and you moved on, assuming you wouldn't be seeing him again since you were sure you lived on different sides of Canada anyway. You weren't even sure why JJ was in your area.

Now, on this cold day, you were out at a local bookstore to pick up a new read and planned to grab a beverage at the shop next door afterward. After almost two hours, you finally bought a book and walked out of the store, then trekked over to the shop where you passed a window.

You froze instantly when you casually looked inside and locked eyes with none other than Jean-Jacques Leroy who was sitting in a small booth sipping from a cup of coffee with the book you had just purchased in his hand. He was staring at you for a second before a large smile appeared on his lips, and that made you scurry off faster than a mouse.

You were freaking out by that point and about the fact that you had another opportunity to speak to a professional skater and you ruined it. You were beating yourself up, but you knew that no matter what happened, you weren't going to see him again. There was no way that some people would never magically run into a celebrity and a celebrity kept popping up for you. The universe didn't do that for people.

And for some other reason, you kept running from JJ. There was just something--like your body was on autopilot--that made you want to get away from him as much as possible, not because you were scared, but because you were nervous. You couldn't explain it.

It was a day shy of a week since your first encounter with the famous skater when, one night, you were walking home from the movies. It wasn't too dark, but enough so that some stars shined in the sky. You wrapped your coat around your body a little tighter as the brisk air nipped at your cheeks.

"Hey!"

You stopped at the voice and turned around quickly to see a certain someone jogging down the sidewalk toward you. You were about to run away again, but you forced yourself to stay in your spot since you didn't want to miss another chance even though your mind screamed at you to get away.

"You didn't run this time," JJ spoke as he caught his breath and stood in front of your stunned figure. "I'm--"

"Jean-Jacques Leroy," you interrupted nervously.

He smiled. "Yeah, I was trying to be polite because you seem very scared for some reason. Have we met before?"

"No, no. I'm a fan of yours and I'm awkward," you replied.

"Oh--" JJ chuckled "--I knew I would have remembered you."

"And you're cheesy," you said more calmly.

"I like you," he responded.

You stifled a sudden laugh that bubbled in your throat and shook your head. "What are you doing on this side of the country anyway?"

"I was here for the week to help out the children's hospital while I'm on the off-season from skating," he answered with hands stuffed in his jacket pockets.

"Yeah, I've heard of how much of a humanitarian you are," you replied then realized something. "You're only here for one more day..."

"This may sound strange, but there's something about you that intrigues me," JJ said, ignoring your comment.

You, feeling more like yourself, brush your hair back in an oh-please manner. "I'm sure that's one of your typical lines to reel in your fangirls, but it won't work on me."

JJ frowned. "No, I mean it. We've ran into each other three times and it's like something is pulling us to each other, except you're the one running away."

You took a second to understand his words and you knew in some way he was right. You didn't know it, but you felt the instant connection with this famous skater and that scared the hell out of you. You were scared of rejection or coming off as being delusional.

"To answer your question, yes. I'm leaving in the morning to go home, so that is approximately fifteen hours of my time left here," JJ revealed and grinned. "Are you willing to make it worth my while?"

You thought for a moment before bucking your head in a certain direction and beginning to stroll down the sidewalk toward a local bar. JJ caught up to your side and you already enjoyed his company that you hoped would last longer than the limited time you had, because whatever happened, you knew this was the start of something beautiful.

"I think I can work something out."
