Everything was almost ready. Cas had spent the entire day laboring over a Christmas surprise for Dean while he and Sammy were out hunting.

Their tiny motel room was filled with various pies, beers, and several other foods that Dean thoroughly enjoyed. Castiel also made sure to get some salad for Sam. He had gotten some tinsel from the dollar store and something called mistletoe. He had also bought two teddy bears, one for Sam and one for Dean. Castiel flicked through the channels on the TV and settled on It's A Wonderful Life. Everything was perfect. All that he needed was for Sam and Dean to return.

Worry twisted Castiel's stomach into knots. What if Dean didn't like his surprise? Castiel quickly shook the thought from his head. Dean loves pie and there is lots of pie to be had. It'll be okay.

Castiel was starting to get anxious. Luckily, he was saved by the door swinging open suddenly. Wide eyed and mouth slightly ajar in shock, Dean stood in the door way, taking in his surroundings.

"Did you do all of this?" he questioned. Castiel couldn't tell whether or not Dean was angry with him.

"Yes, I did. I believe the saying is merry Christmas."

"Is that pie?"

"Of course. I know how much you enjoy pie," Castiel responded cooly, "Where is Sam?"

"He's organizing some stuff in the car."

"I see. Well, help yourself."

As Dean began shoveling pie into his mouth, the door swung open once more. This time revealing one very bewildered Sam.

"Uh Cas? What is all this?"

"It's Christmas. Your salad is right over there, Sam," Castiel responded, nodding towards the bowl of leafy greens.

"Thanks."

Castiel watched as the brothers took in their surroundings. A sudden look of shock and confusion crossed over Dean's face.

"Uh, Cas? Why did you put mistletoe in the room?" Dean asked.

Castiel walked over to where Dean was standing, "It appears to be a Christmas tradition although I am not aware of it's purpose."

"Cas, step away from me. Right now," Dean ordered sternly. Sam began snickering.

"Why should I?"

"Ahem. Castiel, when two people stand under the mistletoe together, like you and Dean currently are, they're supposed to kiss," laughed Sam.

"Oh."

Castiel  was not opposed to the thought of kissing Dean. It's how the tradition goes after all. So, without warning or hesitation, Castiel grabbed Dean's face and pressed their lips together. Sam's laughter quieted, suddenly, as Dean deepened the kiss. Dean's hands held onto Castiel's trench coat as if it was his lifeline.

Dean's chapped and sunburned lips set Castiel on fire. He tasted like beer and cherry pie and boy oh boy did Castiel love it.

Dean pulled away from Castiel for air and he quickly averted his gaze and moved away. Castiel's lips were tingly and cold without Dean.

Dean cleared his throat, "Let's never talk about this."

"I agree," responded Castiel. Sam's laughter picked up again and Team Freewill continued through their evening as if the kiss had never happened.

Needless to say, that kiss was the best present Dean had ever received.
