Pete was buzzing with excitement. Christmas is his favorite time of year. What made it even better was that the student council managed to pull together a winter carnival for the school. Pete was even more excited at the prospect of the carnival.
The only thing Pete loved more than Christmas were carnivals. He especially loves ferris wheels.
So, as the day drew nearer, Pete got increasingly more difficult to deal with. Whenever he opened his mouth, he said something about the carnival. Patrick, Joe, and Andy were becoming very annoyed.
It was a relief to them all when the day of the carnival finally came. School let out for winter break, and Pete rushed to the fair grounds.
The first thing he did was play the balloon pop game. Apparently, he was very good at darts because he won the biggest prize, a gigantic stuffed unicorn.
He was very pleased with the unicorn. Mainly because his longterm crush, Mikey Way, loved unicorns.
Speaking of Mikey, he stood in the surprisingly short line for the ferris wheel with his friends. Pete took this as a sign. I, as the author, am not sure what kind of sign, honestly. Pete's mind is not something I would care to question.
Pete sped over to the ferris wheel and stood in line, right behind Mikey. A car opened and Gerard, Frank, Ray, and Bob rushed forward. Mikey moved to go in with them, but the operator stopped him and said he had to wait for the next car, Pete's car.
Pete's stomach twisted with excitement and he rocked back and forth on his heels. The next car opened, and he followed Mikey in. No one else was in line.
Mikey's eyes nervously raked over Pete and his unicorn. Pete got an idea.
"Unicorn?" He offered the toy to Mikey. Mikey's face lit up like the Christmas tree, and Pete passed it to him.
"Thank you so much!" Mikey thanked Pete.
"No problem. I knew you liked unicorns."
Mikey had a small smile on his gorgeous face, and Pete was entranced.
"I actually don't think I know who you are," Mikey said suddenly, "I mean, I've seen you around school, but I don't really know your name or anything. How did you know I liked unicorns?"
"Well, I'm Pete. Hi. I knew you liked unicorns because-" Pete raked his brain for an answer. He didn't think telling Mikey he was madly in love with him was a good idea. "Well, I'm just observant."
"Oh."
Mikey's eyes lingered on Pete longer than anyone who had zero romantic interest would allow. That gave Pete hope. This spurred him on.
"That's actually a lie. I'm only observant of you."
"Why?" Mikey asked sheepishly.
"I think you're cute," Pete had no trouble being forward. Mikey's eyes widened in response.
At this point, they were at the top of the ferris wheel. Mikey's eyes never left Pete. They stopped moving to allow people to file into a car below them.
Mikey moved to sit next to Pete. Which surprised Pete. You could say that Pete was rossled. (A/N I am so sorry.)
Neither of them said anything. They just looked at each other. Before they knew it, it was time to get off.
They exited the car, and Mikey moved to look for his brother and his friends. Pete grabbed Mikey's wrist. Mikey turned to look at Pete.
"Can I get your number?" Pete asked.
"Uh yeah sure," Mikey pulled a pen out of his parka (haha throwback) and wrote his number on Pete's palm, "Thanks again for the unicorn and merry Christmas."
"Merry Christmas, Mikey."
A/N okay I know this was supposed to be up yesterday. Don't blame me. Blame the internet.
