As my day comes to a close,
the wind of the pier blows.My body wet from the ocean,
every brutal gust of wind growing stronger.
The darkening sky still golden,
telling me to stay awhile longer.My foot touches the ocean,
sending chills up my spine;
The water feels frozen,
Gleamers of the sunset shine.Distant waves crashing onto shore,
Miles of sand still left to explore.The glow of the sun lighting up the sky,
as it brings warmth through the cold;
The light of the sunset twinkling in my eye,
in a shimmering gold.Seconds from being out of sight,
The sun becomes one with the horizon,
allowing day to become night.My heart holds the warmth of the sun,
as the icy wind of nighttime arrives.Walking to the parking lot with so little cars,
I notice the light of the moon and scattered stars. Though their light glows with a definite strength,
the distance they reach will never match the sun's length.The farther away from the beach I drive,
the more I wonder how sunrise will compare,
to the feeling of life the sunset can contrive.K N
