A few weeks later, Jessica and I were sitting at the lunch table with another friend group that I liked to call the weeaboos - they are all obsessed with anime. I am also a big fan of anime, but not in the way these guys are.

Staci is part of this group, as well as a friend from church, Heather. Jenny is part of the ROTC. Amy is the person to talk to about shipping. Pierce was the guy who knew almost all of the songs from his favorite animes. Tessa was the one to give us nicknames from different animes. Sophie (she played flute in the band) was the one to talk to about manga. Andrea was the one to talk to about light novels and other books. Yes, I know two Andreas. When I talked to someone who knew both of them, I would normally call them apart by saying "trombone Andrea" and "weeaboo Andrea," but I later learned that I couldn't do that, since both Andreas are weeaboos. Now I just have to stick with "trombone Andrea" and "freshman Andrea." The last member of the group, Jaren, always trying to get me to watch new animes. I had to say no to quite a few of them, but there are those select few that pop up every once in a while that I do eventually check out.

"Are you going to the band room after lunch?" I asked Jessica.

"Wait, we can do that?" she inquired.

"Yeah," I said. "Ms. Blue said that we should be in the band room during fifth period to get ready if we're going to the pep rally."

"Great!" she exclaimed. "I get to skip Biology and English!"

"Smae." I laughed. "As much as I love English, I don't really like the class as much. I'm just too stressed by the end of the day."

Apparently, as we were talking, Tessa was asking what everyone's first kiss was. "Mine was when I was three," Jaren said.

"Second grade," Staci said.

"What about yours, Kaylee?" Tessa asked.

"I don't know...my mom?" I replied.

Everyone burst out laughing. "Really?" questioned Jessica.

"No, like your first kiss from someone who was not related to you," Amy explained.

"That wasn't your cousin," Jenny added.

"I've never had one," I answered.

"Really?" Jaren asked. "I'm going to go find you someone!" He took off running in the opposite direction.

I stared where Jaren had been standing moments ago. Finally, I spoke, "I'm scared. I am legitimately afraid right now."

"Um...Kaylee, you should probably run," Heather suggested.

"Really?" I turned to Pierce. "Should I - should I run?"

"Yes," he replied straightforwardly.

"Okay," I agreed. I picked up my stuff and hurried to the band room, Jessica close in tow.

While we were having second lunch, the jazz band was in the band room for fourth period. You would normally assume that if a class was going on the teacher would not want any interruptions, but Ms. Blue didn't really mind; all you had to do was knock on the door and someone would open it for you.

The jazz band was very small, consisting of only about 12 or 13 members. I liked to hear them play. Band was good, but it's different hearing someone else play than it is to have to pay attention to what you're playing.

Normally, Jessica and I would sit in the corner while the jazz band was playing, but this time, I wanted a head-start putting the stands away, since most of the band would be in the band room during fifth.

While I was putting the stands away, Ms. Blue asked if I could clean up the piano - it was littered with boxes of pit instruments and music. Right as I was about to move one of the boxes, Travis handed me a tambourine. I raised my eyebrow at him. He made a fist with his right hand and hit his open left hand to the beat of the song. He nodded to me. Hesitantly, I began to play. He smiled at me and picked up another percussion.
