OctoberFriends?
Is that what we were?
Friends?During the week off classes, we got closer. He did fulfill his promise to teach me to ride a horse. We went to the country club almost everyday, where we would have picnic lunches after his lessons. He would place soft, loving kisses on my lips, cheek, and forehead, and tell me how beautiful I was and how much he appreciated me. And I would let him. But I had developed feelings; ones that I didn't want to lose.
But how could I get caught up with someone who wanted to kiss me and touch me and then call me 'friend'. I didn't have time for such complications. I had graduation to focus on.
Did I want to be simply friends? No. I wanted more.
Although the week was amazing and we fell asleep together most nights in my dorm, it would have to stop there. I couldn't sooth his heart while he chipped away at mine with his eyes, his mouth, and his words.
"Nick is seriously sexy." Steph announced for the second time today. She just wouldn't let get him out of my thoughts.
"I know that." I grumbled. She wasn't getting the hint that I didn't want to talk about him. Especially how attractive he was.
"I'm just saying. You just seemed so unbothered by him and how gorgeous and perfect he seems to be." She helped me gathered my presentation papers as we made our way out of the lecture hall.
"Well, if you want to be his 'friend', be my guest."
"You would kill me if I ever tried." She snorted.
"Damn right." I replied with speed, validating her words.
"Guys," Ginny ran down the corridor out of breath. "I have some mix up."
"Some what?" Steph asked.
"News. Some mix up is news girl." Ginny sassed as if it was known. She was raised for a few years in Jamaica but her accent was completely gone, except when she used a different dialect from time to time. "Nick gave this girl name Rylee a bracelet. Apparently its because he likes her or whatever."
"I don't believe that shit!" Steph dismissed quickly, her eyes quickly glancing at my face.
"Why not? I saw the bracelet myself, and there's no way he would buy that unless he wanted something." Ginny snapped.
"That doesn't mean anything." Steph continued.
"It means everything." Ginny retorted.
"I got to get to class." I muttered. I left them in the hallway and made my way to the classroom. If he wanted to be with someone, then that was his decision. He made it clear that we were only friends. I had better things to focus on like my presentation in a few minutes.
The presentation went as well as it could, considering what was on my mind. For the remainder of the class, my mind drifted off and my anxiety reared its head. I heard my phone beep at the end of my lecture, but decided to wait before checking it.
Nick: where r u?
I read his text at my break hour. I ignored it, finding it pointless to reply. I headed to my dorm and freshened up before returning to my final class for the day. I rarely used my wristwatch, but I used it today because I left my phone in my room purposefully. It shouldn't take long before he got the message.
When class was over, I swung near the pub to grab a wrap for dinner and then went home to call it a night. After I ate and showered, I pulled up a movie online and settled into bed to help me fall asleep.
