I smiled down at the girls. They seemed to be getting along really well, almost like they knew each other already. Lily was still hugging Alex tightly, I could tell Alex was feeling a lot of pain by the way she was biting her lip.
"Okay Lily time to let go, we have to go back home," I said as I wrapped my arm around Alex's waist to support her up. Lily had picked up the leather jacket off the floor, I assumed it was one of theirs.
"What about them?" Alex asked glancing over at the unconscious men.
"They will be fine." I said.
We walked out of the Glazing Roar and I could feel Alex stagger. She was desperately trying to stay awake, I scooped her into both of my arms, gently aware of her bleeding wound.
"I can walk you know," she said while glaring at me. If stares could kill, I would be dead.
"It's okay Alex, I got you. Just go to sleep," I whispered into her ear. I barely had caught her smile before she went limp, her head resting on my chest. She was finally unconscious. I couldn't help but notice how sweet she looked, I also couldn't help but notice she was wearing my tank too.
"Is she going to be okay?"
I looked up to see Lily with a sadden expression.
" she'll be fine."
"Really?"
"Yeah, just a bit bruised and sore." I said as I wrapped one of my arms around Lily.
"You two are sure a hand full," I laughed out to brighten the mood.
"No! We were just trying to have fun!" Lily pouted.
"Next time instead of going by yourselves please wait for me," I said while smiling at her.
"Okay!" Lily cheered obliviously thrilled.
"Also dinner is probably cold but how about we just eat.."
Lily had dropped down to her knees in shocked. I followed her eyes to the most horrible sight. Our home, our church was burning down. I felt Lily stretch out her wings and fly towards the church. I could feel a tear fall down my face slowly. He shouldn't..he couldn't...
"He's not in there, Jason. Nobody is." Lily said with a faint smile. All I did was smile too, nobody was hurt and he wasn't dead.
"What do we do Jason?" Lily ask softly.
"We leave, this is his sign."
"What sign,whose sign?"
"My grandfathers, he wants us to leave, to move on."
"How do you know?" Lily asked confused.
"I just do." I said, "Lily can you fly us over the wall?"
"I don't think so but I could one by one," she said proudly.
I put Alex in her arms and she flew off, she passed the church and the tree tops, and finally she went over the wall. A couple seconds later she was back. She picked me up and flew, I looked back at what once was my home, Lily's home, what once was Alex's new home. As we flew we said our goodbyes and left the village. We landed in a clearing covered in flowers of all colors. Lily gently put me down and walked over to Alex, who was laying peacefully on the ground. She checked the wound and ripped part of her polka dot dress. She carefully put it over the wound and wrapped it around Alex's stomach and side.
"Thank you Alex for protecting me." She said great fully.
I smiled at her kindness and laid on the ground, slowly closing my eyes.
