Prologue

AlaisePOV.:

I waved everyone goodbye before turning around to see if everyone had indeed just left. Mass had just ended, and I had told everyone to head home.

This was my family's little chapel in the woods, where I stayed most of the time when I'm not working with my mother with homeschooling. The little chapel was open everyday, from six thirty am to eight thirty pm.

As my eyes settled on the last row, farthest away from the bowl of holy water, was a young man, probably two years older than me, sitting there glaring at the bowl.

Slowly walking up to him, I kneeled besides him, making him turn to face me. "Sir, I apologize, but the chapel is closing now... You can come back tomorrow." I spoke in a soft voice, looking at my hands that were folded over my lap. "We open at eight thirty and close at six thirty."

"Thank you, but I won't be coming back." He responded in a husky, velvety voice.

Looking up at the man, who had raven black hair that rested on his forehead, pale skin, caramel-orange eyes, and a small beauty mark on the top corner of his right cheek, I frowned. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but why?"

'Many, many, many crude reasons'. A voice echoed in my head, making my eyes widen.

"W-what?!" I stuttered, looking at him with my baby blue eyes.

He smirked before standing up. "You are such a pretty little thing, no?" In one swift movement, he had pulled me up into his arms. "Who knew you would've been mine?"

My eyes widened, and I started to struggle against him. "Dear God, help me!" A dark chuckle escaped him, and I felt a cloth being stuffed into my face. My eyes became tired, and my breathing slowed slightly. My limbs heavy, and soon, darkness overcame me. Dear God! Why me?

I awoke in darkness, when suddenly a few torches turned on, red fire coming out. My breathing was shallow and heavy, and my limbs were even heavier.

"You're awake!" A soft, girly voice came from behind me, but I couldn't even move. My breathing was getting heavier, my eyelids were dropping, and I was just deprived of any emotion and energy. "Miss? Miss, are you alright?" My eyes shut and my breathing slowed to a stop. I allowed the darkness take over me.

Chapter One

ShaytonPOV.:

I don't know why I entered that chapel, or even how I entered it, but all I know is that the moment my eyes landed on the blonde girl, I had found my soulmate. Only one problem, she was one of those religious girls. I still took her, I transported back to my castle were I ruled over demons, and left her in my bed. I told a maid to stay with her until she awoken, and all I'm doing now is waiting until she does.
