RoseMary and I were sitting in a Cafe, discussing what would happen when we ran out of money.

"We might actually need to get jobs." I said.

"Where? Our parents could find us and force us back. We can't risk them seeing us again." She objected.

"True." I sighed, feeling defeated.

That's when they walked in.

A very pretty girl, long blond hair, her eyes seemed to glow... She had a nice figure, and she walked in with another guy. He had dirty-blond hair with the same glowing eyes, you could see his abs through his thin, white t-shirt. They walked in with their eyes on me. It made me uncomfortable, that two very beautiful people would be looking at me. I kept my head down, pretending to look at the menu.

They walked over to me quickly, almost frantically, but with grace. It was amazing just to see them walk.

"You..." She said, standing with her arms crossed next to out table. I slowly looked up at her, I could feel RoseMary's eyes on me.

"Yes?" I timidly asked. I was very intimidated by this girl, and I had no idea why. Surprisingly, I saw her smile.

"We've been looking for you. Why would you be all the way in Detroit? He's in Los Angeles!" She explained. The way she said he's sent a pleasant shiver down my spine. What did she mean?

"You're coming with me." She ordered. Or, at least, it felt more like an order. She finally tore her eyes from me and looked at RoseMary.

"You, too! He's in Los Angeles!" She explained. You could visibly see RoseMary shiver. I knew she felt it, too.

"C'mon ladies." The guy finally said. I really, really wanted to know what they were talking about. But, at the same time, I was scared to death of whatever was waiting for me. I mean, these strangers walk into a Cafe, and come up to me, an orphan girl, and basically order me to go to (I guess) go to Los Angeles! Have much more strange can you get!? I fallowed anyway, the curiosity ruling over me.

There was a white, shinny Cadillac parked outside, of which they got into, RoseMary and I fallowed. I think she was just fallowing my lead, and I felt bad for that. Just because I chose something, it doesn't mean she always has to fallow. Like now, she had a choice to stay or to come, and I felt like I was ruling her.

When we got in the care, she sat right by me.

"You don't have to go just because I'm going." I whispered aftraid the strangers would hear me. "You can stay, you know that, right?"

"I know." She nodded. I nodded back and looked upfront. The guy was driving and the girl was in the passenger seat. I wasn't about to talk to them at all, but RoseMary wasn't so reluctant.

"How long is this drive?"

"About fifteen, twenty minutes. We're taking a plane the rest of the way." The guy said. "By the way, I'm Kyle. Kyle Black."

"I'm Era, his girlfriend." The girl smiled back at us.

"RoseMary."

"Jasper."

The rest of the drive was in dead silence, RoseMary and I exchanging careful looks every few minutes. I wasn't thinking, there was nothing to think about. Except where I was going. I wasn't worried like I should have been, when you've been abused for a few years, you understand. You just don't care anymore. Once you've escaped the endless cave of torment, nothing else scares you more than going back. I know I'm not going back. When I'm away from Detroit, I'll be fine. He wouldn't come looking for me in Los Angeles, would he? I mean, why would I go there, anyway? I was a little surprised he hasn't found me yet. Not that he'd miss me, he's probably taking out his anger on his own house, too drunk to realized I've gone missing. But if he just happened to come across me, he'd take me home and give me the lashing of my life. I cringed at the thought.

We arrived at the airport very soon, and I ended up falling asleep on the plane. I'd never ridden in a plane before, and I wasn't excited of scared about it, it was just another form of transportation.

"Jasper! Jaaassspppeeerrr??" RoseMary nudged me awake. I squeezed my eyes shut, opened them, and closed them again. The light was too much and I groaned.

"What?" I grunted.

"We're about to land!" RoseMary said happily.

"What are you all happy about?" I asked, smirking.

"I... I don't know... I-I'm not happy, what are you talking about?" She said, changing you tone of voice into a hard shell. I looked at her, she winked at me. She was very good at hiding her emotions.

Anyway, we all got off the plane and we took another silent, long drive.

It was a rich neighborhood, to say the least. The mansion Kyle drove into was so beautiful is was unbelievable. I'd never seen anything like this in my entire life.

"Wow..." Was all I could whisper, shocked.

"Like it?" Kyle asked, parking the car in the driveway.

"Uh... yeah!" RoseMary answered. I bluntly nodded, still starring at the magnificent... everything. My eyes were darting from place to place.

"Good," Era smiled back at us. " 'Cuz this is your new home."
