Chapter 7-What is this swordery

Tasha's POV:

We quickly say goodbye and pack our stuff in the jeep. Issy is taking a nap so our goodbyes are easy. I just say we are leaving because of a family emergency. Once in the jeep he turns off the radio. "Tasha, talk please baby."

"Ok, so my niece Allison. She just started walking, she's only one. I guess no one was watching and she fell in the pool. They heard the splash and my sister dove in and got her out. They did cpr and got her breathing. The ambulance came and took her to the hospital to test her, then. Then they took her twin sister and her big brother away. They are threatening to arrest my brother and sister in-law for child neglect." 

"Don't worry, they will get them back."

"Just drive. I need to get home. I need to be there for them."

"Ok baby. Why don't you rest your eyes and I'll wake you the second we get off the expressway." I just nod and stare out the window. Eventually, I feel my body drift into a sleepy dream land. "Tasha! Babe! Wake up!" 

"Hmm?"

"We are at the hospital!"

"Jake! You were suppose to wake me!"

"You looked so peaceful." 

"Jake!"

"Sorry forgive me. Alright so I'm nervous."

"They will all be in panic mood and won't even realize you."

We walk in to the emergency room and all eyes turn to us. Sara rolls her eyes. Mom comes running over and wraps her arms around me. She's sobbing into my neck. "Mom, it'll be ok. We will get it figured out. Oh by the way this is Jake."

"I know, but it's so scary. Ok. Ehm. Hi Jake."

"Hello ma'am."

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU SAYING!" Benny yells at a police officer. 

"I'll be right back," Mom says quietly. I walk over to where Sara, Aunt Em, Luke, Leigha, Emmy and Leidy sit. 

"I've never spent a night away from my babies," Leidy sobs into Leigha's arms. 

"Sir, we are going to have to ask your party to leave. You cannot get the children back tonight," the police officer says. 

"Jimmy, please!" Benny pleads. Jake grabs my hand as we watch the sad scene. 

"Bently, let's go home. We can go straight to bed. Then when we wake up the kids will be able to come home," Leidy says quietly. 

"No! I can't go home. It's not the same with out my little man and my baby girls!" 

An hour later, we sit at Luke and Leigha's house after being kicked out of the hospital. Jake went to Toby's house and Leidy is at my mom's. "So, Jake. You are here teacher." Luke says quietly as we sit on the back patio of their house watching the sunset on the horizon. 

"Yeah. I'm just a teacher's aid though."

"Come on I wanna show you something," Luke instructs him. 

"Is he going to show Jake his guns?"

"Probably," Leigha says laughing. 

"Lee, what's gonna happen with Jase, Ally and Alyssa?"

"I'm not sure. I mean they. I don't know. It's their first offense and then I don't know," Leigha says quietly. 

"So what's up in the life of you and Luke and Emmy?"
