Chapter 11-Can You Guys Shut Up

Tasha's POV:

September passes, the leaves start to change and classes become more difficult. It's another Friday night and I'm being dragged to a party by Lucy and Natalie. Sara is with Browdy. Jake went home to Issy for the weekend. I stayed here for some bonding time with my roomies. Now I'm in a crowded kitchen sitting on the counter scrolling through twitter. "You're in my way," a guy grumbles. I slide off the counter and notice it's Niko. I tuck my phone in the back pocket of my skinny jeans and attempt to sneak away before Niko notices me. Suddenly, he grabs my wrist and pins me against the counter. He stands towering over me, he's over 6 feet tall and I'm just 5'4".
"You aren't sneaky. Didn't you learn that when you were 16?"

"Niko, leave me alone." I say trying to walk away.

"Listen bitch. I know your secret and I'm not afraid to tell everyone. You're a dirty whore."

"Can you leave me alone? Did you not take enough from me already? What secrets? I don't have anything to hide and if I did it won't make you anything special!"

"Why would I leave you alone? I like the way you cried that night or how you screamed in fright," he says attempting to stroke my face.

"Niko. Please stop," I say as tears threaten to fall.

"I will not. Come on hunny, you know you want to be with me."

"Niko, let me go!"

"Admit you slept with your teachers. Were your grades really that bad? Did you do that all throughout high school too? How about your brother in-law? He's a teacher did you sleep with him too?" As he yells this into my face I slip one of my hands out from his grip and smack him across the face.

"I've never slept with anyone! You raped me, you jerk!" I yell as Natalie and Lucy and other party people come running in the room. They stand back and watch us yell at each other spitting harmful words and threats. They watch me like I'm so crazy zoo animal in a cage, like I'm there solely for their entertainment.

"Yes I did, but I love you babe. I always have and always will. You need to stop your shit with that guy!"

"I DON'T WANT TO BE WITH YOU! I DON'T LIKE YOU! GET THAT THROUGH YOUR THICK HEAD!" I yell and his response was to punch me in the jaw. I fall to the ground and hearing yelling. Then my eyes grow tired and I drift into the blackness.

"How long has she been out?" A voice asks.

"About an hour," another voice replies.

"Tasha, come on open your eyes," the first voice says softly. In response, I slowly open my eyes.

"Lucy, get her some water!" Browdy yells. Sara brushes my hair back off my face.

"What happened to Niko?"

"He was arrested," Lucy says walking into the room with a smile. "I got the whole thing on video and he is going away from awhile. Don't worry Tasha!" I let go of a breath I didn't even realize I was holding.

"Question, did you call Jake?" I whisper staring at Browdy.

"I did, but he didn't answer. I just told him to call me," Browdy says quietly as they all stare at me with confused looks.

"Listen, I don't care what lies we have to make up, he doesn't need to know about this. He's stressing out enough as it is with Issy." Browdy opens his mouth to disagree, but promptly stops. They all agree with me. That night I sleep easily knowing I am safe again, for now.

Monday morning I am up before the birds. I cover my fading bruise with tons of concealer and get ready for Browdy's class. I arrive there early with coffees for them. They are busy discussing something so I set it on Browdy's desk and take my seat. I pull out a John Green book and ignore the world. A few minutes later a group of girls comes in and sits a few rows behind me. They are all being loud and obnoxious.

"Damn look at how finee Jake is looking today," one of the girls, I think her name is Sadie, says kind of loudly. I roll my eyes.

"I wouldn't mind going out with him again, even though he's way to focused on school and his family," another girl, I think her name is Kelly  tells her friends.

"That's right you went on a date with him," Sadie says loudly.

"Yeah, he was a man whore back then. I totally slept with him and would willingly again," Kelly tells her friends.

"I heard he's dating a freshman," Sadie replies.

"I bet she's ugly," another girl pipes up.

"Alright good morning class!" Browdy says happily.

"She is. I saw them together, they had a kid with them. It's totally hers. What a slut!" Sadie whispers, or attempts to whisper. They keep talking about Jake and I. I have reached my breaking point and I turn around.

"Hey can you guys shut up? I kinda pay for these classes and would like to be able to pay attention to the professor instead of your petty drama!" I say as the lecture hall is silent. Browdy and Jake stare at me.

"Damn sorry!" Sadie says laughing.

"Ladies, please be quiet. Now let's begin out lecture..."
I put my elbow on the desk and lean on it to concentrate.

As class ends, Nala and Trish crowd over a flirt with Jake. I slowly pack away my stuff. "How are you today Ms. Clark?" Browdy asks with a smile. I glare at him. I glance over at the girls flirting with Jake.

"I need to go."

"Tasha, stop."

"Browdy, leave me alone."

"Just wait he told me to make you wait," Browdy says with a small smile.

"Why, so I can watch him flirt with these bitches?"

"Ugh Tasha, how does he put up with you?" He mumbles.

Jake walks over as the girls leave. The girls were right, he does look fine today in a blue flannel and dark skinny jeans.

"Thanks for the coffee. By the way, now you lovebirds leave!" Browdy says loudly.

If you read this, I love you. Okay? Sorry, I've been busy with life, school, job and friends (lol jk unless they are online). I plan to update within the next like two weeks. I have prom next week and student council events. Anyway. Half of this was written on my phone during school so it might have punctuation in the wrong places, but oh well I might edit soon. Okay. Bye now.
