She could hear them talking in the distance.
She opened her eyes and looked around.
She knew they were talking about her,
but she wasn't sure what they were saying.
A hand captured hers,
and she looked over to see Luke sitting by her bed.
He looked down at her,
and she could see a flurry of emotions go through his eyes.
He smiled at her and she smiled back.
She was finally awake after all that time.
Time she spent thinking.
Thinking about her choices.
Thinking about where she was now.
Thinking about what she was going to do.
"She's waking up".
She could hear the doctor yell down the hall.
She saw her family members running to her room,
She saw the nurses coming down the hall.
She saw Luke slip out of her room,
and walk away from her.
Her father stopped him.
She could see her father mouthing something to him,
but she wasn't sure what.
Luke nodded to her father,
and then began making his way back to her.
She inwardly smiled.
"Go fathers", she thought.
Luke came and sat by her bedside.
He clasped her hand in his and squeezed.
"We need you to come back, love.
We all need you,
whether or not we have done a good job at showing you.
We all need you in some way."
He told her gently.
She looked up at him,
and she could see the sincerity in his eyes.
He meant what he had said,
and that made her fight even harder.
