He looks familiar to her.

Like someone she used to know.

Like someone you would pass on the street,

and then see them five minutes later.

He looked at her with a sort of terror.

Like he knew something she didn't,

and he wished he hadn't.

She felt puzzled by this.

She had no knowledge of who he was,

but he seemed to know who she was,

and wished he didn't.

He looked at her out of his perferial vision.

She was just a figure,

lying, lost in the sea of white sheets.

But she was more than just a figure.

She was a person.

A lost person,

but still a person.

He could feel her watching him,

even if she couldn't move.

For he knew what it was like.

What it was like to feel helpless.

Alone.

Not understood.

Lost.

The mental pain.

For he had been in the same situation.

He knew what it was like to lose your life in a flash.

He knew what it was like to not be heard.

He knew what it was like to be left.

To be forgotten.

His name was Luke,

and he understood.
