She was looking out the window to the hallway.
A boy was walking by the window to her room.
She widened her eyes in surprise.
No one besides the doctors ever came through her hallway.
He stopped at her door.
Tess could hear the faint sound of the door handle being twisted.
Turned her head to the door, waiting, watching, wondering what was going to happen.
Surely he couldn't be here to visit her.
No one came for her anymore.
She didn't even know him.
The door slowly creaked open.
A head peeked in.
He had brown hair.
It was short, some pieces coming down onto his forehead.
He had blue eyes.
So blue, they were like the sky on a sunny day.
He walked in, and looked around.
His head swiveling to everything in the room.
Which was nothing.
Nothing but a girl lying in a bed, surrounded by pale white sheets.
His eyes slowly made their way to her.
As he looked down at her,
his eyes widened in recognition.
She was the girl who he had almost killed.
