It wasn't too difficult to find her next victim.
Chara had accepted Monster Kid's help once more, allowing the innocent creature to follow her to the cliff edge where it would all go down.Monster kid began backing away in fear as Chara revealed her true colors. The fight initiated, and as her knife swung down to kill the boy, the dark knight of the underground predictably appeared, taking the hit. Nothing new here, it seemed.
Undyne stood, valiant and foolish as ever, ordering Monster Kid to run away.
The child did as he was told, with just the smallest frown on Chara, forever doomed it seemed to never quite get that one kill."Heh... 'it'll be okay'.. Look at me. Somehow.. with just a single blow... I'm.."
Chara waited impatiently for Undyne to nearly die before assuming her true form as Undyne the Undying.
"No... I can't die yet... you'll kill them all, won't you?.. Humans and monsters alike. No...there's a burning feeling I can't describe..
A feeling that WONT let me die.
I can feel the hopes and dreams in everyone's hearts beating as one!
I WILL NOT DIE HERE!"Those said hopes and dreams evolved her. Her left eye pulsated with a magic spear where her eye patch once covered, while her armor became as dark as jet.
"You're gonna have to try a little harder than that." She smirked. Spears of sapphire-blue lit up the sky and rained down at hyper-sonic speeds towards Chara. She avoided them purely off of memory, having survived this onslaught so many times already.
Despite Chara's lack of LV, it was only a few minutes into the fight when Undyne, gasping for breath said
"W-what are you? How do you know almost every move I'm going to do... like you've done this all before?!"
She launched a lighting-fast barrage of blue magical spears, which were all easily avoided by the demon-child.
Chara lunged forward, slicing deep into Undyn's arm.
Injured, she began her final assault."I know you murdered Sans. Not that something like you would care, but he was a good person! Well, I will never be defeated by you! I WILL NOT LET YOU KILL ANYONE ELSE!!!"
Magical energy crackled through the air as Undyne summoned the last of her power to bring forth a hail of spears towards Chara.
Each missed its mark, and, almost bored, Chara ran forward once more and plunged her knife into Undyne's chest.
She sank to her knees, her physical form created from hopes and dreams already fading slowly away.
"D-dammit.. so even this power.. wasn't enough? Alphys.. Papyrus.. my king.. Sans.. I'm sorry."
With that, she vanished in the deathly cloud of monster dust.
Unknown to Chara, Papyrus had been watching the whole thing. He had been so confidant Undyne would win, even as the knife gave the killing blow, it wasn't until her dust blew past his face that he truly understood the gravity of what just happened.
He quietly made his way back towards the lab, taking care not to get spotted from his position.
As he arrived at the lab, Alphys stood nervously waiting for him.
"Papyrus! You haven't seen Undyne around, have you?""I... I have seen.. many things today."
Papyrus replied."Papyrus?! What's wrong?"
"Alphys... I.. Undyne.. " For the first time in a long time, Papyrus began to cry.
"Oh my god! Pappy what's the matter?"
He slowly wiped his tears away, then made his way up to where Undyne had been staying.
He rummaged through her things until he found the blue hoody she had thrown aside. He stared at it for a moment. His eyes filled once more, and memories of every bad pun, every terrible prank, everything he loved and hated about his brother came rushing in.
He slung it on over his normal clothes, then marched past a shocked Alphys.
"H-hey wait! What is going on?!"
Papyrus sighed and turned to the royal scientist.
He sucked in his non-existent gut and tried to throw back on his most sincere smile, knowing he may never see her again."ALPHYS. YOU MUST WARN THE KING, AND EVERYONE ELSE TO EVACUATE AND ESCAPE TO ANYWHERE SAFER THAN OUT HERE. A HUMAN HAS ... A HUMAN HAS DEFEATED UNDYNE... AND SANS.
I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, MUST STOP HER. JUST BE GONE AFTER I'M DONE STOPPING HER.."Alphys looked at the side of Papyrus Undyne has only joked about. The side that truly belonged in the Royal Guard, but never belonged on a skeleton as upbeat and cheerful as Papyrus.
"Un...Undyne? She's been d-defeated?"
Alphys echoed, her lower lip trembling."YES. I SAW HER BATTLE WITH AS MUCH STRENGTH AS ANYONE COULD EVER FIGHT WITH. EVEN I WAS IMPRESSED WITH HER AMAZING POWER.. BUT SHE LOST. WHICH WAS.. S-scary, Alphys. I've never seen her lose.."
Papyrus's fake smile began to droop, but he quickly picked it back up and gave a final salute before heading out of the lab."PAPYRUS!" Alphys cried.
He stopped and turned to see Alphys wave one last time.
"Undyne.. she would have been proud of you."
Papyrus nearly teared up again."OF.. OF COURSE SHE WOULD. AFTER ALL, I AM THE GREAT PAPYRUS! NYEH HEHHEH HEH HEH!!"
He turned and ran before he could change his mind. His smile faded, and his skip-like run changed into a full on sprint fueled with purpose. The human would soon know what the great Papyrus was capable of.
