Just towards the end of Waterfall, near the beginning of Hotland, Chara stood face to face with Papyrus.

She waited for him to make some stupid remark, to embarrass himself before she cut him down, but he remained silent with his head down.
He wore an oddly familiar blue hoodie. The fresh blood still staining it filled her with determination.

She took the first step towards him.

"HUMAN. NO. WHATEVER YOU ARE. I HAVE SEEN YOU ARE NO HUMAN. I KNOW WHAT YOU HAVE DONE. BUT I MUST...
I CANNOT BELIEVE IT. I MUST HEAR YOUR GUILT FOR MYSELF. MY BROTHER.. DID YOU KILL MY BROTHER, AS YOU DID UNDYNE?"

With a wide, unusually creepy even-for-her-smile, Chara nodded. Could Papyrus finally understand? Could this moment get any sweeter?

His eyes grew dark. His head drooped. All his body language suggested he had suddenly fell into a pit of total despair. Yet, he raised his head and said "YOU... YOU HAVE CHOSEN A DARK PATH HUMAN. ONE THAT EVEN I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SAVE YOU FROM. BUT PERHAPS.. IF YOU WERE STILL WILLING TO SHED JUST ONE SHRED OF REMORSE.. I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS COULD STILL RESCUE YOU FROM YOURSELF."
Chara tried to make it exceedingly clear to him of her intents by licking her still bloodied knife.
Papyrus's face twitched noticeably.
"YOU KNOW, IT'S FUNNY. I HAVE AN ODD FEELING GROWING INSIDE ME, ONE I'VE NEVER FELT BEFORE." His empty eyes let a single drop of remorse drip down his bony face.

"I... I DO KNOW THIS FEELING. THIS IS... DISAPPOINTMENT." He clearly intended to say hatred, as his tone of pure malice dripped from the word, in a way that Chara, nor Fisk had ever seen Papyrus use.

"HUMAN. YOU HAVE SLAIN UNDYNE, OUR ONLY AUTHORITY ASIDE FROM KING ASGORE HIMSELF. WITH HER DEAD, WHO IS MORE CAPABLE THAN I TO TAKE UP HER MANTLE?!" He began laughing then, as bright tears of liquid magic began coursing down his face.
"ISN'T IT FUNNY? I FINALLY MAY EARN MY PLACE AS A ROYAL GUARD WHEN THE ONLY TWO PEOPLE I CARED ABOUT, THE ONLY TWO I EVER TRULY WANTED TO IMPRESS, YOU RIPPED AWAY FROM ME?!"

His entire body heaved, gasping for air as he choked on his own growingly erratic laughter.

"WELL HUMAN. I'M SURE SANS WOULD HAVE A PUN FOR THIS, BUT AS FOR ME.."

In as familiar fashion as his brother, Papyrus's right eye lit up in orange flames. With a roll of his hand, he initiated the fight by summoning a Gaster blaster.

Caught off guard, Chara was blown to pieces, leaving only the charred smell of flesh behind.

"I PREFER TO GET TO THE POINT."

She reset, and returned to see the figure still standing where she left him.

"HUMAN. NO. WHATEVE-"

She skipped his intro by initiating first this time. With a swing of her blade, she caught Papyrus off guard, cutting deeply into his gut.

"I SEE..."
With a rapid eye change from orange to blue, Papyrus sent Chara flying into the boiling magma below, much to his horror.

She reset again. Papyrus... he was far stronger than she expected.
Finally, something new! A real challenge.
"It's time to join your brother in the eternal abyss, Papyrus."
MEANWHILE, BACK IN THE THRONE ROOM...

"I'm getting some serious de-ja-vu here, Rick!" Morty cried as they stood once more before the enraged Asgore.

"Chara! She must be resetting. But who is she fighting?" Frisk asked out loud.

"Does it matter? This guy keeps killing me no matter how many times I get back in!"

"Yeah, it takes a while. And I've never seen him like this. He's usually just depressed..." The child replied.

"GRAHHHH!!" Asgore yelled after impaling Rick's soul for the 5th time.
Luckily, Chara reset once more, and the trio ended right before the king lunged at Rick, destroying his MERCY button.

"What do you want from me?!"

"YOUR SOUL!!"

Rick survived another round of slashing blades, just barely.

"'FIGHT', 'ACT', 'ITEM'..  I only have my egg halves for items, and I can't fight this damn thing..."

He hit ACT to try to reason with him, to no avail.
"FUCK!" He cried, getting once again eviscerated.

"We can't keep relying on Chara's resets to save him. We have to do something!" Frisk told Morty just before all went dark and they appeared outside Rick's fight once more.

"Morty! I have an idea! PEE ON HIM, Morty!"

"Rick, god no! That's a very bad idea Rick, you know?! Like the worst!"

"Just trust me! Pee on him! Pull down your pants like a man and piss on the king!"

His soul shattered after an especially powerful attack, and they reset once more. It seemed Chara was dying just as quickly as Rick.

"Ohh.. fine! I'll do it Rick. This is stupid, I just want to say that before I die!"

"Oh no, you might die once. Boo hoo. Cry me a river, Morty. Hurry up and piss!"

...THE VENGEFUL SKELETON..

Eighteen times. Not even Sans had ever beaten her eighteen times. And as she barely avoided a massive bone, she was blasted away by a careful planted Gaster blaster.

Nineteen.
This was even better than Chara had hoped for, but enough was enough.
She used all her energy in her initiating attack, making sure to stab him directly in his eye before the battle could even begin.
Crippled, a majority of his power was unusable.

Giddy with this new strategy, she casually hit 'ACT' and began to Flirt with him.

"YOU... HAVE NO REDEEMING QUALITIES."
He replied. Awh. Oh well. It took only a couple more tries before the powerful skeleton was kneeling in front of her panting heavily.
Even this last fight had been long and drawn out, and Chara was unsure she would be able to repeat it.

"THERE.. WAS A TIME WHERE I
WOULD HAVE FORGIVEN YOU EVEN FOR THIS BUT.. SANS... MY BROTHER. UNDYNE... MY BEST FRIEND... GONE. I SUPPOSE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE I AM SIMPLY NOT GREAT ENOUGH TO STOP MYSELF FROM HATING YOU." Papyrus's head lulled from its resting place as usual, and Chara walked closely to it. Tears of anger, frustration, and unimaginable sadness poured down his face.

"NYEH HEH.. MAY YOUR SPAGHETTI ALWAYS BE COLD."

WHAT?! How dare he?!
She crushed him into dust.

With the skeleton brothers finally reunited in hell, it was almost time to end it. Nobody else was even a challenge past this point.

It was almost time. Frisk would not weasel out of what they started this time.
