I slam the car door shut, a little bit too loud. "Amber?" Hanna says. I shake myself into reality. "Oh, sorry about that. I'm just a little nervous that's all." Hanna smiles and nods. We walk into the police station greeted by a young and really handsome looking police officer with a muscular body, icy green eyes, and short hair that reminds me of soft, dark chocolate. "Good evening ladies. How can I help you?" Coty says with a straight face, "We would like to see Officer Hemings." The guy smiles and nods. "Right this way". We follow him through a dark corridor, and into a long hallway. He opens a door for us and we walk straight in. Inside the room, sits a lady with blonde hair tied in a high ponytail. Her dark brown eyes searching the computer with curiosity. "Oh hello, ladies. Are you here to speak about the murder of this man called John, I hear? She asks, looking up at us away from the screen. Coty sits down, without being asked, and answers "uh huh". The officer looks at us in suspicion. "So who would like to start?" Coty looks over at me and I nod nervously. Taking a deep breath I tell her. The truth. From beginning to end.
"Wow" . Officer Hemings states after I finish. "Not that I don't believe you, but proof is needed." Hanna arches an eyebrow. "How are we supposed to have proof? We were rescued by an animal." The officer leans over her desk, a strong scent of English leather fills my nose and I cough. "Darling, there's no need to be so upset. We just need to investigate is what I meant. Tomorrow morning a small group of us will go investigate the area this man was murdered. From there, we will start asking you more questions and we need you to speak the truth or it won't be good for none of you." Coty manages a little smile. "Thanks." And with that we exit the building, wordless to say anything.
I shut my door and remember how John looked that day, dead. I cringe at the thought. I had never even thought, Sunshine could do such a thing. But knowing that Sunshine did that for my safety. For me. It makes me really happy. I never liked John anyway, but I never wanted him dead either. I sit on my bed and text Katherine.
Me: im really scared, Katherine. what if they take Sunshine away?
Reading my own message, I panic. Thoughts taking over my head. No. No. I remind myself. That can't happen. Nobody can separate me from my horse. Not anymore.
My phone beeps and I get up from bed, the morning light hitting my eyes. It's Katherine.
Katherine: Don't worry, Amber! That will never happen! The officers will be investigating this morning and we were invited to come. Get ready in an hour.

I run out the door, quickly into John's house, where the investigation is taking place. My heart beats fast..and I don't even know why. They won't take Sunshine away. They can't. Taking a deep breath, I walk forward. A trace of blood still marks the floor. I cringe and look away quickly. The officer eyes us confusingly. "There seems to be no signs of evidence here but marks of blood. We suggest you to please be patient as we do further investigation on this case. When we find something out then we will surely let you know. I fake a smile as they exit the house leaving us clueless and confused.
Hanna enters the room holding a plate of salsa and tortilla chips in her hands. She sits down plumply next to me on her bed, and begins munching loudly on her chips. I cough a little, just to remind her that I'm there. She looks over at me apologetically. "Chips?" I shake my head. "Hanna, we really need to do something. Sunshine really saved us. She saved the world. But the investigators and police think John was a good guy and he did nothing wrong. They don't believe us Hanna, I could tell! We have to do something. And fast."
I look at Brady's old, wooden, house. The roof doesn't seem to support the house very well. Hanna looks over at me. "Are you sure, Amber? You want to get help from Brady? Keep in mind that Brady and John were best friends, like us. I personally don't think he will be much help." I sigh and place my hand on Hanna's shoulder. "Don't worry Hanna. I know what I'm doing. Brady wasn't really like John. He was more of the bystander. John was the one doing the crimes. Brady just helped and I'm not saying it will definitely work out but I think it's worth a try." Hanna smiles a little. "Yeah,OK."
"Whadda you want?" Brady asks in his same sour expression. Hanna nudges me and whispers "I'm pretty sure he doesn't know what happened with John" I smile at John a little too much and whisper back, "Let's keep it that way, then."
"John's history? Whadya mean? Just ask him yourself for god's sake!" Brady says in a loud, annoyed tone of voice. I roll my eyes. "Do you think he'll tell us? OK, let's make a deal here. You give us some proof about John. His criminal records, files and stuff and we...what do you want us to do?" Brady just stands there with a straight face. "If I help you, you ain't gonna tell John nothing, understood? That's all I can possibly ever ask for from you idiots." I gasp. "Excuse me? What did-" But he's already heading up the stairs before I even finish speaking. "Pervert" Hanna mumbles under her breath. I laugh a bit and let me tell you, it really feels good to laugh after such a long time.
