Celeste looked down at the present in her hand with a small smile on her face. "Thanks mum." She said quietly, holding it tightly before setting it on the table in front of her. She let out a stressed sigh before excusing herself to her room where a letter sat on her desk. Her long hair fell down in waves as she looked out the window to see snow coming down. When her phone began to ring she wanted to believe it was Simon and for a moment she did, until she looked at the caller ID and Josh's name popped up. "Merry Christmas!" Celeste laughed loudly before setting the letter down next to her. "Merry Christmas, Josh." She replied sweetly, the noise from downstairs quieting down. "He's at his parents house." He said slowly, as if giving it time to sink in. "Really?" She asked, pretending as if she didn't care but deep down Josh knew she did.

"Yeah. Wouldn't it be nice to go and see him?" The question lingered for a few seconds until she could hear him sigh. "He's just a short distance away from you." The realization hit Celeste and she breathed deeply. "He doesn't want to talk to me. Why does it matter?" She heard shuffling and even though he wasn't in the room with her, she shook her head. "I appreciate you being a good friend, to both Simon and me. But some things aren't meant to be fixed. Tell Frey I said hi and Merry Christmas." She didn't wait to hear his response so she hung up. It was mean but she was over the conversation. She wasn't going to go and see him.

No matter how much everyone else wanted her to.

And just when she thought it would be over, Celeste heard soft knocking on her door, turning around to see her mum in the doorway. "Hey." Celeste said as she scooted over to make room for her mother to sit. "You heard didn't you?" The young girl asked as her eyes stayed glued to the floor. "I was never really bad at eavesdropping." Celeste showed a toothy smile to assure her mum she was okay but she knew better than that. "You should go. I haven't seen you happy since you guys broke up. You still love him and you need to get everything off your chest." Her mum kissed the top of her head before disappearing out into the hallway. Celeste grabbed a heavy coat, a hat and her gloves, all before grabbing the final letter and tucking it into her pocket.

When her family asked where she was going she simply ignored them, she just grabbed her brother's car keys and went straight to the car, turning it on and speeding off. She remembered the streets to get to his house, the familiar surroundings bringing a sense of nostalgia for happier times. A couple hours went by and when she pulled up to the Minter family home, she grew a little anxious. This was the most spontaneous thing she had ever done in her life. Did she want to go through with it?

Did she want to find out his true feelings?

A part of her told her to run but there was another nagging part of her that said she would regret it if she didn't go now. So after building up the courage she got out of the car hesitantly and approached the door. The wind hit her face making her nose turn red. "Celeste?" The door opened after she knocked and Simon's mum stood in the doorway. "Hello. Mrs. Minter. Is Simon home?" She smiled at the young girl standing in front of her. Simon's mum was always a fan of Celeste and hearing about their breakup was devastating. She didn't know the details and Simon would refuse to talk about Celeste after that.

But she could tell that Simon was hurting and she felt guilty that she couldn't help.

"He's inside, why don't you come in?" She smiled at Celeste who had rosy red cheeks. "I'm good out here thanks. I don't want to intrude." Celeste smiled sheepishly and wondered why she felt so nervous stepping inside. "Oh don't be like that. Come on dear." Celeste was rushed inside and pulled into the kitchen where Simon's back was turned to her. She felt the breath catch in her throat and when he turned around his eyes went wide and his jaw dropped. "What are you doing here?" He questioned and Celeste's face turned red from embarrassment. "I-I wanted to talk to you. I'm sorry, it's just Josh told me you were here and I wanted to give you something."

His mum glanced at him and Simon felt his hands ball into fists. He licked his lips before sighing, walking passed Celeste and motioning for outside. With his coat on and his sneakers, the two of them stood in silence with the snow falling around them. "I just wanted to hand this to you." Celeste dug into her pocket and grabbed the envelope, handing it to him. He took it slowly and eyed her suspiciously until he put it in his back pocket. "I'm sorry." He said quietly, his voice cracking a bit. He turned around and headed inside, for a moment Celeste just stood there not knowing what to do.

Then she started to cry and it felt like her heart was breaking all over again. She was about to turn around and go back to her car when she heard the opening of a door. "Wait!" Celeste looked over her shoulder to see Simon running out with a pile of envelopes. "I wrote back." He whispered and she broke out into a small smile. "I'm sorry. There are so many things that I regret and everyday is just a waste without you. I want you to forgive me." Celeste examined the envelopes before looking up at him. "I forgive you." Their bodies were close and he was smiling down at her. "I want to try again."

"I'd like that."
