(On the day Jay asked Candice out.)
Author's POV
After class , Jay asked Candice out on their very first date. He decided to take her to a cafe. Jay likes Candice and all , but not like this. He just had to do it. As they were eating their cakes , Candice noticed Jay was spacing out and that he doesn't seem all too happy.
"Jay, do you really want me to be your girlfriend?" Jay widened his eyes as she said this.
"Of course, what makes you say that?"
"I'm not stupid Jay... You're just doing this so that you can get over Adria. Forcing yourself not to look at her in class , not to greet her in her birthdays every year , give me presents in situations where Adria is right there. You love her , don't you?" Candice said , the truth in her words. Jay had to come clean in someway , so with a pang of guilt , he nodded. Candice felt sad , but she was happy Jay told the truth.
"But I just can't be with her. I can't break the relationship she has with Ron. " Jay confessed head low and clutching his hands together on the table. Candice held both their hands together.
"You've already broken her enough. You're really stupid , you know ? 10 years and there you sit believing you don't stand a chance. Every moment you pretend to ignore her , you're killing her personality. You're breaking her , Jay , don't you see? Earlier in class , she was gone for the last two periods crying over the fact you did this to her. You made her believe those text messages you sent her were meant for her." Candice said.
"But the teacher said Ron had to take her home because she wasn't feeling well."
"It was an excuse , airhead. Stop pretending you don't know."
"I'm sorry , Candice."
"It's okay. We'll give this relationship a few weeks to live and cut it off , okay?"
"W-We don't have to cut it of-"
"You want me to stay in a relationship believing you actually love me , Jay?"
"No. Ok."
