Laura had wondered where Josh had disappeared to. He was supposed to come back inside last night. Josh said he was setting up something for Tyler in the backyard, but he's be inside by the night was over. That wasn't the case.
She had searched the house up and down. It was like a never ending game of hide and seek! ("'If he be Mr. Hyde,' he thought, 'I shall be Mr. Seek.'") There was one last place to look, and that would be in the backyard. Why she didn't check there first is because she thought it would have been too cold for the both if them to stay outside in the middle of winter in Ohio.
Hoo boy, was she wrong.
When she opened the back door to look over at the tree, the lights were still up, and there were the two missing hooligans under a massive pile if blankets, cuddled together and sleeping peacefully. Her anger was suddenly gone as her heart melted at the sight. Her baby was growing up. He was on his first date since middle school, and they were cuddling.
She may or may not have taken a few photos of her precious child and his boyfriend. The secret is safe and hidden.
