Chapter 15: She'll Come When You Need Her

    Chara wakes up in some sort of white room. She stands up, "W-Where am I?" she looks around, "Hello?"
    She mumbles, "Is this what being dead is like?"
    She then shouts, crying, "I DON'T WANT TO BE DEAD!!!!" Chara falls to her knees, shaking, "YOU CAN'T KEEP ME HERE!! WHERE ARE MY FRIENDS!?!?" A sudden realization hits her, "Please don't tell me they... forgot..."
    She screams until her voice is sore, tears streaming down her face.
    Shadow hears Chara crying.
    "Huh? C-CHARA!? Y-you d-died? Who killed you!?" She rushes over to Chara, rubbing her back.
    She stops crying, "Sh-Shadow? Why are y-you being n-nice?"
    "Who killed you!?" Shadow repeats, ignoring Chara's question.
    "I've never actually been fully alive... Frisk and I each have half of a soul, that's why we have to stay together. I died of what you would call, 'natural causes.'" Chara says.
    A bell sounds, "That's my time to go. I guess I'll see you again. And... I'm sorry..." Shadow disappears.

    Frisk is waiting for Virus's answer after hearing his voice in her head, "Umm... M-Mr? Are you there?" She grumbles, "I knew it was my imagination..."

    Chara slams her fist on the ground, "LET. ME. OUT!" cracks appear in the ground and spread outwards.

* * *

    She sighs, "Yep, my imagination... Tricking me..."
    She chuckles and walks off.

* * *

    Her eyes widen when she sees the cracks. She wipes her eyes and slams her fist on the ground again, and more cracks appear.

* * *

    Frisk makes it where Undyne is and sits down against the wall, "Why does my imagination have to trick me into thinking I have real friends..."

* * *

    Chara hits the ground one more time, and it shatters, dropping her into the barrier room.
    "Home..." she says, DETERMINATION filling her mind, clearing out all thoughts except one; Find Frisk.
    Her soul is missing. It seems to be floating through the Underground, searching for something?
    She sighs, "I wonder who he was..."
    Her soul floats around, eventually reaching Frisk and it glows brightly.
    Frisk looks up at the soul, "... Huh?"
    It seems as if the soul is telling Frisk to follow.
    "... Ummm..." She slowly gets up.
    Chara senses her soul somewhere.
    The soul twirls around, glowing brighter as it gets closer to Chara. It shimmers rainbow colors, almost as if it's filled with HOPE.
    "W-Wha?" Memories start flooding back to her.
    She sees Frisk, and sprints towards her, hugging her, crying.
    Frisk cries as well, "C-Chara!" She hugs her back.
    Chara pulls away and wipes away her tears, "Hi."
    Frisk smiles and begins remembering everyone. She remembers the voice that was talking to her earlier, "V-Virus... Chara! We have to get back to the vacation place!"
    Chara nods, "I was just about to say that. Try not to puke." She grabs Frisk's hand and teleports to LLP.
    "WEE!" She smiles and looks around, "Where's Virus?"
    She shrugs, "Maybe because you reset... he's back at his AU... this place is deserted..." Chara looks up at all of the empty houses, "Wanna go there?" she looks at Frisk.
    Frisk nods, "I wanna go see him!"
    "Okay. This might take a while... I have to locate it..." She closes her eyes, not letting go of Frisk's hand, and they suddenly teleport.
    Frisk looks around. There's glitches surrounding the place, "This looks like it would be his AU... Now, let's go find him!" She grabs Chara's hand and runs off.
    "Well, if it's anything like any other AU's... that would be Snowdin... and we are... actually, I don't know where we are..." She looks around.
    Frisk is looking around as well, "There it is!" She points to a small little town.
    Chara slowly walks towards it, "Come on." She starts walking towards the far end of the town.
    Frisk notices the house, "D-Does that look like the place?" She points to it.
    She nods, "Yeah." Chara knocks on the door.
    Frisk waits and hums.
    "I'm sure they wouldn't mind if we went in if the door... opened by itself?" Chara uses her magic to open the door without touching it.
    Frisk watches the door open and giggles. She walks in, "H-Hello?" She looks around.
    "Yo, the door 'opened itself'. Anybody home?" She walks in as well.
    Frisk looks around at everything, "... H-He must not be home... H-He's not answering..." She looks down sadly and sniffles.
    Chara sighs, "Then we'll stay here like stalkers until he gets back." She sits on the couch.
    She chuckles and walks around, "It's a pretty nice place..." She looks at the pictures neatly set on the shelf.
    She looks upstairs, "D'ya think he's in his room?" She smirks, "Want me to go into his mind?"
    "... Chara don't! L-Let's just wait until he notices we're here!" Frisk says laughing, and looking at the pictures. She grabs one off the shelf and smiles.
    Chara shrugs, "Okay."
    Frisk sets the picture down.
    Virus looks like he hadn't slept and comes out of his room with tears stained on his face. He doesn't notice them.
    She hears some sort of creaking noise and turns around, "Huh?" She sees Virus, "... Mr.V-Virus?" Frisk begins to smile.
    Virus looks over as his eyes widen and he starts crying, "F-Frisk?!"
    Frisk smiles and runs up to him, wrapping her arms around his waist, "I'm so sorry..."
    The two of them stay like that for a small while, until they finally separate.
    She backs up, "I-I don't know what got into me... I-I tried to save Chara..." Frisk sniffles.
    "Yo I'm alive again, though!" she gets off of the couch and mumbles, "I gotta go find someone..." Chara looks up.
    "Keep Frisk safe, I'll be right back..." She teleports away.
    Frisk looks at Virus and chuckles.
    Chara teleports to LLP and looks around. She sees the flyer for the duel and shrugs, "I guess people would watch that... I might find him there... for some weird reason..."
    She continues looking around, and the more she looks, tears start forming in her eyes, but she wipes them away and mumbles, "Where is he?" Chara sighs, giving up and sitting down on the floor and starts crying a bit.
    She's kinda in the middle of the floor. She looks up, "Who are you?"
    "Huh?" his hood is up, only his smile is shown.
    Chara stands up, "Hi... who are you?"
    "Me? Or it?" he points to a random Moldsmol, "Are you alright?"
    "You." she wipes away her tears and mumbles, "I'm fine..."
    "Are you sure miss? You seem upset."
    "I'm fine, I just... got back... and I can't find someone..."
    "I see... Well, if you're looking for Lust, he left... I'm his replacement!"
    Chara shakes her head, "I'm not looking for Lust, but I am looking for a Sans..."
    She continues looking around, occasionally wiping tears away. She gives up again and sits on the couch. She sighs. Chara lays down and stares at the ceiling, with no more tears left.
    Hidden stretches out and yawns, "What now?" He looks over at Soul, and then looks around, "Where's Chara?"
    She facepalms and mumbles to herself, "I didn't even check the dang room!" She goes up to the room.
    He shrugs, "H-Hopefully she comes back..."
    Chara knocks on the door and goes inside and sees him and sighs with relief. She hugs him.
    He chuckles and hugs her back.
