Oleander : The Gentleman
Oleander sighed as he walked down a random isle. Before he could think of a hiding place he found himself in the drab library. No one even came here save for some nerdy freshmen or Millicent Fischer, the super nerdy and violent Christian library assistant. Violent because once she hit Trina Spears on the head with her two tonne Bible when Millicent found her making out with one of her boy toys. That was definitely something that would go down as a legend and a story worth telling.
He touched the dusty spines of the old books. The musty smell and the slippery soft texture of the dust that his trailing fingers touched calmed him oddly. As he neared the end of the aisle he was in he stopped short. A window was the source of blinding white light as it poured through the glass illuminating a patch of the ground on which a boy was curled up.
Oleander could only stare at the strange boy sleeping so comfortably on the floor. His light brown hair looked golden and his skin was almost evanescent. His huge wire framed glasses rested delicately on his freckled nose. The boy looked like an angel.
Oleander tip toed closer fascinated at the sight before him. He slowly sat down in front of the boy and watched him. Light snores permeated around the space around them. He wondered how the boy could sleep so peacefully on the cold, hard floor. Oleander contemplated whether he should wake the boy or not. Lunch break was almost over. He looked like a freshman and Oleander couldn't help but be slightly protective around him. He hushed some giggling girls on the other aisle before removing his light jacket to place it over the shoulders of the boy. He sat back down and continued looking at the boy.
Just three minutes before the mechanical bell clanged the boy opened his eyes and yawned. He rubbed at his eyes and slowly lifted himself off the ground. Oleander stared wide eyed not sure of how to react. When the boy finally looked his way he could see his glazed eyes widen. They stared at each other with the same expressions. Oleander choked when the younger boy gave him a dreamy smile.
"Finally a dream with a handsome upperclassman. Yes!" Oleander watched confused as the boy fist pumped the air laughing almost maniacally.
"You okay?" Oleander asked unsure.
"Yeah now that you're here" the boy smiled slyly and came closer making Oleander move back slightly.
"Um..... " was all Oleander could mumble as the boy climbed on his lap like he belonged there. Oleander blushed at his bold approach.
He cleared his throat and tried to lean away from the younger boy. His eyes were a pretty hazel with long curled eyelashes with soft rosy cheeks and plump pink lips. Oleander's heart beat fast at the close proximity."This is such a nice dream" mumbled the boy as his hands caught hold of Oleander's broad shoulders as he stared at his face biting his lower lip. He leaned in for a kiss and Oleander panicked. He pushed the boy away and quickly got up.
"I'm sorry but you're not dreaming" Oleander told him breathlessly.
"I'm not?" the boy asked innocently. He then pinched his cheeks hard. He grimaced and opened his mouth in shock and realisation.
"Ohhh" he said and nodded his head. "Well looks like it's not a dream afterall" he shrugged and got up dusting his clothes nonchalantly while Oleander kept staring at him in utter shock.
"Sorry about that. Is this yours?" he handed the jacket to Oleander. Oleander could only nod as he clutched the jacket to his chest.
"I'll see you around" the boy said as he ruffled his already messy hair and pushed his glasses up his nose. He walked away humming a familiar tune. Oleander watched the eccentric boy leave. He jumped when the boy suddenly turned around. "I didn't know you were a gentleman Oleander Hartley. Nice meeting you. I'm Kenneth" he said and smiled showing two perfect dimples. Oleander gulped and nodded. Kenneth waved and swiftly walked away.
"I hope I do see him around" Oleander mumbled still staring.
