Louis got home the next day with sore feet. He had borrowed a pair of dress shoes from Zayn, but it happened to have fit him a bit tight.

He wanted to at least look decent without wearing his ratty old vans, but he forgot that Zayn's feet were a bit smaller than his.

The bus ride home didn't help him either. There was a sick lady who wouldn't stop coughing at Louis' head.

The lad laid flat on his black sofa and enjoyed the quiet that surrounds him. Of course Whiskers happened to have jumped on the lads stomach and purr as Louis ran his fingers through his hair.

"I feel as if I haven't seen you in forever," Louis said to the cat.

He watched as the cat closed his eyes and fall asleep. Louis cooed at him and kept petting him, knowing that he would want that.

Louis was glad the paperwork haven't started. He still had permission slips to look over, but that can wait.

Louis was starting to doze off, but there was a sudden knocking on his door.

The lad groaned. He gently moved the cat on to the sofa and got up from his seat. He walked over towards the door and opened it to reveal Jay who had brought a pie with her.

"Mum!" Louis smiled as he moved aside letting her in.

"Hey, Louis. Brought a pie because I know how much you starve yourself here." 

Jay placed the pie on to the counter of the kitchen and hugged her son tightly.

"How have you been?"

"Good, you?" He asked.

"I'm wonderful. Lottie has a boyfriend, you know," Jay said smiling a bit.

She made her way towards the couch where the cat got up to greet her.

"What? She's too young to be dating," Louis scolded.

"She's eighteen, Lou. Dan and I met him, he's lovely," Jay assured the lad.

"Okay, well I'm going to trust you on this."

Jay chuckled, "how's the school? Are you having fun?"

Louis sat next to his mum and smiled, "yeah, it's amazing. Although I might have frightened a few of my students."

Jay chuckled, "well they'll come to love you. What grade are you teaching again?"

"Twelfth grade--all boys," Louis said.

Jay smiled, "well that turned out great for you didn't it?"

Louis rolled his eyes, "mum, in their teacher. I'm sure I could get arrested dating one of them, which in that case won't happen."

"Besides, the school is an all Christian private school, all straight guys and all believer in god," Louis added.

Jay nodded her head, "you've been single for quite a while now, son. Aren't you starting to get a little...lonely?"

Louis shrugged, "I never really thought about it. Yeah, it sucks having a two bedroom trailer with no roommate, but Zayn lives next door and he's always coming in, so I'm not alone."

"How about a boyfriend? Don't you want one? Surely it would be lovely to see you all happy with a boy."

"I don't need a boyfriend, mum. I'm happy with where I am right now. I have a healthy mum, wonderful siblings, and a great job, I'm good," Louis said.
