Walking down the grand hall, her footsteps could be heard echoing as her blue hues searched the halls. She looked down at the dark ebony wood then up the white marble walls. There were gold leaf decorations on the wall that framed the doors. It was a very stunning sight. Strands of her wavy brown hair draped down the sides of her angular face blocked a bit of her vision. She couldn't remember how she managed to get here. She didn't know anything about this place she found herself in.
What worried her most was that she couldn't remember what she had to do to get here. She seemed to start to recognize this place. Had she been here before? Wait, she remembered that! She knew that this was the palace, but how did she know this? It was probably obvious though giving the extravagant decor. She couldn't remember stepping foot in here before. She couldn't remember ever stepping foot in here before. Or did she? She still couldn't remember, and that was frustrating. Then she remembered something else; she knew that the public would never accept her being here. This is because she is a cyborg and the public feared them.
The public feared her kind mostly because they were scared of the machine part of them. They didn't understand it and they feared what it might be capable of. It was obvious that she was a cyborg. But how did she know that if she hadn't looked at herself? She knew that the public would never accept her kind. So why was she here then? Another very common belief about cyborgs is that all the machines put on and into them removed their emotions. The public had a good reason for this belief to a degree.
It is true that some cyborgs do have their emotions removed due to an operation they needed. However, they don't do it to all cyborgs. She was one of the very lucky ones who had her emotions intact. She knew this because right now she felt really terrible about herself like she will for the rest of her days. She would have to move forward and endure the pain and scorn of the public. That will be the only reality she will know. She moved forward down the hall to the grand ballroom.
As she reached the end of the hall, she noticed the two strapping and very tall guards at the end of the hall. They were posted on each side of the doors and she started to grow worried. When she finally did reach them, the guards took a deep bow towards her then they proceeded to open the door for her. She made her way through the doors and entered the grand ballroom. The doors were made of a dark oak wood that complimented the floor; they were also decorated with delicate gold leaves on the edges of the doors.
This added a very delicate touch to the whole look the hall had. Although she was nervous at the sight of all this, she managed to walk past them and did her best to enter the ball with grace and dignity. 'When do I learn to do something like that.' she thought to herself. She began to get overwhelmed by all these questions she didn't have answers to. However, she managed to hold her head high and walk through the door with as much courage as she could muster which was quite a bit.
"The lady Ethane." announced a squire she seemed to recognize but, she couldn't remember his name.
She really didn't even hear who he announced her as. For, once she entered the ballroom, she saw the most magnificent sight she had ever seen in her entire life. She loved everything about this sight. The gold colored glass chandeliers that sparkled in the light. She loved the women dressed in pretty silk dresses thrashing about as the danced with their partners who wore dashing suits. They would move from one corner to another making their way around the room.
She liked how the food tasted, and the decorations. What made this sight truly astonishing though was the strapping, tall, and young captain of the royal guard. His eyes were blue and had beautiful blond hair swept to the sides of his face. She had met him sometime before. Him being here also really confused her but, she couldn't remember why or how. Her attention was taken away really quickly the moment that reality struck her. Then her mind went into overload with a million thoughts.
