Melissa
It was later in the night, almost midnight and we had stopped in an RV camp for the night. Everyone was sleeping in the back sleeping except for me. I was sitting at the table in the kitchenette of the bus with my songbook and pencil in hand. Words were spilling on the page; every thought and emotion I feel goes into the song and melody. Since my earphones were in my ear and playing Lego House by Ed Sheeran, I didn't notice Jessie sit in front of me until she ripped my earphones out of my ears.
"What the hell, Jessie!" I said quietly through my teeth. She shrugged, taking a banana from the table top and began to eat it.
"How are you and Andy doing?" I glared at her and continued writing. She sighed loudly.
"You know you can't avoid this conversation with me. How many times do I have to tell you?" I slammed my pencil to the table and glared at her.
"Jessie, how many times do I have to tell you that I'm not going to try anything with him? I value our friendship too much to let anything come between us. The last thing I want is to lose him to some bimbo that's going to try and take my place." She seem unfazed by my small bitch fit.
"Save you bitchiness for L.A. I'm not taking this 'friendship' bullshit any longer. Mel, I've been friends with you long enough to know that you're lying when you say that you don't love him." I looked down at my hands knowing that she was right. I've been in love with that boy since freshman year of high school.
"But I don't want us to turn out the way Ryan and I did. Plus, you know that Sasha and Isabel never approved of him. I don't want that happening again." Jessie sighed and sat next to me. She wrapped an arm around me and laid her head on my arm.
"They were only like that because they didn't want you getting hurt. Besides, I always thought you guys would have been cute together." I was going to say something but Sasha came in interrupting me.
"What's this talk I hear about Ryan?" I shook my head quickly.
"Nothing." She glared at me and looked at Jessie.
"Jess?" Jessie looked at me and looked back at Sasha.
"We were talking about her and Andy getting their shit together and finally dating each other. But she said that she doesn't want to do that for the fear that you guys won't approve of him like Ryan." Sasha grabbed a can of Mountain Dew from the refrigerator and sat across from me.
"I approve of Andy because he gets my Mountain Dew addiction. Plus he's cool. Ryan is just another story you don't want to get me started on." I cringed at the thought. I know she would rant and rave as to why he was 'no good' and how it's good that I ended my relationship with him. Sasha chuckled a moment.
"Haha, Bad Romance." I groaned and rolled my eyes, going back to my writing. It's been years since I've heard anything on the song. I saw Jessie glance at me from the corner of my eye.
"What are you talking about, Sasha?" Jessie asked. I heard the can slam on the table, but didn't bother to look up.
"You know how messed up Mel and Ryan's friendship was? Well Isabel and I came to the conclusion the they had a bad romance. So when we heard Lady Gaga's Bad Romance play on the radio, we started to sing it to her. She didn't get the idea at first but eventually she caught on." Jessie removed her arm from me and sat up.
"Yes, they're relationship was rocky and it wasn't easy to understand but it was something between them two. The song idea was funny but even I would get annoyed by it. I don't think it was the best thing for you guys to bring forth like that. Melissa, did you ever get annoyed by it?" I stood quiet for a moment.
