Smile and Wait

A laugh,
A joke,
A poke,
A forced smile,
All the while,
Seeing,
How she takes the place of me,
Everyone takes the place of me,
I suffer,
I shan't complain,
Jealousy is a sin,
Complaining is ungrateful,
Sisters,
All sisters,
And I the one left out,
I'm glad they mean so much to you,
I wish I meant that much to you.

3 months,
3 whole months,
You can't look each other in the eye,
But still I stand by,
I nurture you,
I listen to you,
I'm there for you,
But still she means more to you than me,
Still she was your sister,
Still I am not,
Still I shall sit here,
In my chair,
And discuss everyone's problems,
I want to help,
I won't complain,
At least one of you trusts me.

I am at the end of the waiting list,
The last one to turn to,
I'm not your sister,
Half the time I'm not your friend,
It's ok,
I'll sit here in my chair,
Because Mary's little lamb,
Is too tired of following
And following
And following
What a pity you took her for granted,
What a pity she looked up at you with eyes of admiration,
What a pity she can't even look you in the eyes anymore,
What a pity, a whole life wasted.

I'm the 3rd wheel, the 4th wheel, the 5th wheel. But of course you'll tell me I ought to be grateful, to be a wheel on this cart in the first place.
