That night, Elijah told Hayley, Marcel and me that the Strix were going after Rebekah, and she was missing. We stood in the bell tower of St. Louis Cathedral to meet with Freya
Freya had lit dozens of white candles in preparation for spellwork.
"So, where is Klaus?" Hayley asked.
Freya was leaning against the table, looking exhausted, sighing. "When I told him about Rebekah, he said he'd pursue another lead."
Elijah took Freya's athame, using it to slice open his palm so he could bleed into a bronze bowl on the table, which laid on top of a large, pristine paper map that covered the entire table top. "Forget Niklaus." He took out his handkerchief, using it to clean his hands, handing the bowl to Freya and me. "You will find her."
Marcel looked at Freya and me. "Now, you sure you got enough ju-ju for a worldwide locator spell?"
"She's my family," Freya told us. "I won't lose her."
"I'll help you look for her," I told her.
Freya nodded.
Freya and I took each other's hands, taking a deep breath, putting our hands around the rim of the bowl of blood, beginning the spell. "Le six ce strul no cruv. Le six ce strul no cruv."

Freya and I continued the spell, pouring the bowl full of blood onto the map where Africa was situated. "Le six ce strul no cruv."
I handed the bowl to Elijah.
We watched the map hopefully.
Freya and I focused all of our energy on concentrating on Rebekah.
The blood just spread out until it was covering the entire map.
I sighed in frustration. "Damn it."
Elijah looked at us in alarm, while the rest of us were disappointed.
"Well, so much for witch-GPS," Hayley told us.
"I assumed they'd cloaked her," Freya told us shakily. "I didn't expect a spell this strong."
"No doubt conjured by the very witch who lured Rebekah into this trap," I told them.
Freya sighed, visibly frustrated, stressed by this turn of events, sitting down at the table to brainstorm. "You should all go. I have my work cut out for me."
"The Strix trust me," Marcel told us. "If they know where Rebekah is, I can find her."
"There's no time," Elijah told us. He looked at me. "About this weapon of Lucien and Tristan's..."
"I won't activate it," I told him. "I promise."
"Not willingly, no," Elijah told me. "But the Strix has very persuasive ways in convincing witches to do their bidding."
"Sounds like a lot of people I know," I told them. "I don't break easily."
"I will not rest until my sister is found," Elijah told him.
"Well, in the meantime, please tell me that we're gonna kill someone?" Hayley asked.
"Oh, we're going to kill many someones," Elijah answered. "But first, if we are to start a war, let us determine where allegiances lie."
Elijah turned around, walking out, leaving.
