The sun was bright as it shone over the horizon. Eeva was looking at her pokedex as Eevan slept in her other arm. Avona was tucked away in her pokeball, safely in her trainer's beanie, which was fashioned into a small pouch, just for that reason; holding her pokemon.
"So this is Veridian City we were at... At least I'll figure something out..." Eeva said to herself, quietly as not to wake anything.
"That means... Uhm... That, this is..., the Veridian Forest? No.. That's where the bug types are.. I know that much. But that means... Ugh! I don't know! I'm so confused... I did go quiet a ways so, maybe this is Veridian?"
"Grrrgh... Eeva, what are you going on about...?" Eevan asked sleepily.
"Hm? Oh, I'm sorry..! I didn't mean to wake you up.. I was just, thinking out loud is all."
"Alright.." The Eevee hopped out of her arms and let out a yawn. "Just, don't wake up Avona.. The last thing we'll want is a screeching Pidgey this early in the morning.."
"Yeah, I guess you're right. We can both keep it down, aight?"
"Sounds good." Eevan hopped up on his trainer's shoulder. Eeva couldn't help but smile, and rubbed his head. He chuckled at that.
"Hey Eevan, who do you think we could meet next? Veridian Forest, bug types and all. Looking forward to seeting a new friend?"
"Yeah! Sounds great!" Eevan chimed. "Running into a Beedrill might BEE a little rough though!" The pokemon snickered at his little pun.
"Heh.. A Kakuna hive would be the worst though. Hey, maybe I could catch a Weedle. Or a Caterpie. I could be lucky and befriend a Mettapod or Kakuna though!"
"Either way, looking forward to it! Already better than my last trainer. At this point they would've beaten me and left me in the middle of nowhere because of my accuracy, or muzzled me because I was 'too loud'...." Eevan said, his mood dropping.
"Oh yeah, you had a trainer before me.. Can you tell me what they did and what they were like? I mean, only if it isn't too hard for you!"
"Oh, no! It's no trouble at all. In fact, I think you deserve to know, if anyone. So... There was this one time..."
--Flashback--
"You weak little Eevee, what do you think you were doing?! That Shadow Ball should've hit, but you missed anyways! How did I get stuck with an incompetent little runt like you?"
"It.. It wasn't my fault! I didn't mean to miss, I swear! But the poison-"
*Smack*
"Keep your mouth shut. One more little 'Eeveevee' out of your mouth and I'll leave you tied up in the backyard of the next Pokemon Gym after letting you get beat until you can't stand. Weak runts like you don't deserve a spot on my team. NO ONE should have such a pathetic rat."
"Master, that's a bit harsh for such a little pokemon, don't you think...?"
"Yeah, quiet being so hard on him! He didn't mean to miss his shot!"
"GRR! IF YOU DONT SHUT UP I'LL DO IT TO YOU TOO! AND THEN I'LL JUST FIND MYSELF A NEW TEAM, EVEN BETTER THAN YOU!!"
--End Flashback--
"So your last trainer focused more on power than potential.. Well I'll tell ya what! No way will I abandon any of my pokemon because they're weaker than others! We'll train as hard as we can, so that we can all be congratulated, okay, Eevan?"
