Having made it through the Viridian Forest, Ash and Misty had joined up with Eeva, and entrusted her with Pikachu. To train it to its limit.
"Finally worn out, Pikachu?" Eeva asked to the down electric mouse. "I don't want to overwork you, even if Ash said I could help."
"No... No, I can keep going!"
"Are you sure...?"
"Nope! But I'm not going to quit yet..!"
"Alright. Avona, kick up some dust. Eevan, Double Team up then go underground."
"Yes, Master Eeva!"
"Of course, Miss!"
"Pikachu you are to dodge everything until you can't keep going, alright?"
Pikachu nodded, and as if on que Eevan(s) popped from the grassy dirt beneath them.
"Eevan, Bite!"
Pikachu squealed in pain and didn't get up when the dust settled.
"Pikachu?"
"Pikachu! Hey, we'll help you back up. I think we've done enough training today.." Eevan said while nudging his training partner up again.
"Master Eeva, are you sure you don't want any help..? I can carry him, I swear! I could use the training!"
"Eevan, no. I've got it. And if you want to train, I'll let Ash know so we can do it all together, okay?"
"Yeah... Alright..."
"Hey, you don't have to push yourself like you had to.. Before.. Because I dont care purely about how strong you are. It's about how strong you can be. As long as you try your hardest!"
"R-Really? So... You really do understand us then." Eevan went quiet and walked beside his trainer. Eeva smiled.
"Like I told you, I grew up with pokemon. This isn't new for me. What's new are these pokemon centers and pokeballs and gyms and stuff."
"So you don't really like the modern-day pokemon rules?"
"No.. They're confusing and limiting.." And neither of the two spoke another word until they met Ash at the pokemon center.
"Yeah. He just exhausted himself. A little rest and an Oran berry should do the trick." Eeva handed the Pikachu over to Ash, and sat at a table to calm herself. Eevan joined her.
"Master Eeva, your face is white again.. Why is that?"
"Oh. I guess I get it. Can I have a berry then?"
"I've had more than enough Lum berries for a year. I'll take the Oran."
"Alrighty! Here ya are." She set the berry down on the table beside her, where Eevan sat.
"Oh uhm.. Ahem, hello! Sorry about that.."
"Hm? Oh, yeah.. I guess so.."
"Uhm..."
"Come on, Eeva! This is your chance to show that you can help them!" Eevan encouraged.
"Yeah.. Yes, I'll help you. All I ask is that you make sure that Pikachu with Ash is gonna be okay.."
"...Wild pokemon...? Hey, can my Eevee come with me?"
"Of course!"
"Yeah! Let's go!" Eevan chimed.
"Just, follow me!" The Chansey said, motioning for follow.
"Right behind ya!" Eevan barked.
