Sitting alone at Ichiraku, Y/n frowned as she pushed her noodles around the bowl in silence. Amaya sat across from her with her father at her side looking at her in sympathy, “you know, Y/n…. You could always work here… The cafe doesn't know what it's missing….”Looking up at the kind hearted brunette, Y/n smiled faintly, “thanks Amaya. I doubt their missing much though… I haven't been doing much of anything since graduation… “
Teuchi frowned, placing his hand over her hand with a fatherly look in his withered eyes, “listen to me, Y/n. I have watched you and your friends grow up. You've asked me for advice, you confided in me, and you all are like family in my eyes. Don't sell yourself so short because one piece of scum told you to. I expect you to be here bright and early for training, with that pretty little smile I've been missing for the past four years.”
Smiling softly, Y/n nodded as Teuchi stood up, hugging her like the daughter he saw her as, “don't let your fear of that loser rule your life, Y/n. You are surrounded by family here in Konoha. You are safe. Now enjoy yourself, and let yourself heal.”
“Yes Sir.”
Smiling as her father went back to work, Amaya stood from the table, “we're happy to have you back, N/n. Everything will be okay.”Sighing as she was left alone, Y/n took the time to reflect on what Teuchi had told her. Her mind and memories clashed with what she wanted and what she was forced to believe. Her fears surfaced, trying to convince her that everything Teuchi said was a complete waste. She wasn't wanted or missed. She chose to leave everyone behind, so she didn't deserve their kindness and support.
“Y/n!”
Her eyes snapped up to see several faces she hasn't seen in years, “K-Kiba?”
The brunette grinned as she stood, immediately pulling her into a long overdue hug as Shino, Shikamaru, and Choji followed in behind him, “how have you been, babe?! We missed you!”
Grinning, Y/n hugged the dog loving male back tightly, finding comfort in the familiarity, “better now that I've come home. How have you all been? How is Akamaru?”
“He’s good! He's actually waiting just outside!”
She looked over to the familiar male, dorning the same high collared jacket and glasses he always had, “Shino… It's so great to see you…”
He smirked as she hugged him, “y/n. Nice to see you haven't forgotten me.”
Y/n chuckled as she mover to greet her other friends, enjoying the feeling of being surrounded by the people who had always meant most to her. However, as happy as she was to see them, Jason’s voice continued to mock her at the back of her mind, ‘You're wasting your time, Y/n… You left them. Do you really think they will forgive you so easily for abandoning them?’
Wincing, Y/n forced the voice to silence, “how have you guys been?! It seems like ages since I've seen you guys last!”
Choji grinned, taking a seat beside Shika as Kiba stole the seat beside the h/c girl, “it has been. Where did you even go, y/n? Everyone missed you after you left.”
Y/n frowned slightly, catching the attention of the three males seated with her, “I was in New York for university. I, uh… I got engaged, but things didn't work out-”
“We know. Naruto filled us in. The bastard beat you.”
She couldn't meet Shika's eyes, feeling shame flood through her as she nodded slowly, “yeah… He did.”
