It was one of those nights where Y/n wanted nothing more than to just go home. Her body was nearly as exhausted as her mind had grown to be, making her sluggish and very easily agitated. She found herself forgetting the little things. Things like eating, remembering her phone, or putting on a touch of makeup to hide the dark circles beneath her eyes.

Truth was, she hadn't been sleeping much at all. She had honestly believed that coming home would have kept her safe from Jason, but all it had managed to do was open the door for a new form of abuse.

Every time she closed her eyes, it was like being drug back to his loft in New York. It was as if he invaded her mind, forcing her to relive every single moment of her time with him. Her dreams were so unbelievably vivid that it was as if she had never left at all.

She could feel his cold, slimy touch against her skin. The smell of his cologne filled her nose, suffocating her with how strong it seemed to be. The memory of his forceful lips on hers made her want to hurl. The bone chilling pain of him striking her in anger forced hot tears to sting her eyes. All of it came back ten fold in a wave of merciless vengeance, causing her to suddenly wake in a cold sweat with Hinata and Naruto staring at her with pure horror and worry in their eyes.

The realization that there was nowhere for her to run that she could ever truly be safe from her ex lover haunted her. There was an invisible chain connecting her to the darkest pits of the hell that Jason Alexander had created just for her. His smooth, hateful voice rang loud and clear in her mind on repeat, making sure she never forgot him, ‘I’ll never let you go….’

It made her paranoid, making everyone around her, everyone who loved her, worry for her health as she slipped deeper into her own depression. Watching her was like watching a corpse from an old fashioned horror movie, slow, emotionless, and dead. She was far from being the Y/n that they all once knew, yet none could blame her.

Naruto and Hinata had made the strong effort with trying to keep her involved and social, often inviting her closest friends Kiba and Shino over for dinner. Their hopes that Shino’s odd obsession with his studies over his bugs would at least draw her mind away from Jason with conversation. Everyone was also hoping that Kiba’s energy and sense of humor could cheer her up in the slightest. However, all she seemed to be capable of was a polite smile.

Neji had made an effort to visit her regularly, often treating her to breakfast, or taking her out for dinner just to make sure she didn't disappear from the confines of her room. It was clear to both his cousin and her husband that Neji had always had feelings for her. It was also clear that it pained him to see that his efforts also went nowhere.

Teuchi and Amaya made the effort of trying to keep her busy, giving her the opportunity to work as long as she wanted just to keep her mind distracted. Being like family in their eyes, they too worried about her. Though only those close to her ever got to see it, Y/n was usually the life of the party. Intelligent, kind, and outgoing, she was often the one who got along best with everyone aside from Sasuke and his admirers. It was painful to see how truly different Y/n was from that girl.

Guilt of burdening them all with her problems only made everything worse for Y/n. She loved them all dearly and appreciated everything they were doing with all her heart. However, they only knew of the night that had brought her back home. They all had come to the conclusion that her abuse had been taking place long before she finally had the strength to leave.

The one person who seemed to just let her be was Sasuke Uchiha. They had settled into a routine that Y/n found strange and out of character, but at the same time it was comforting.
