Y/n groaned as her head dropped to the table in frustration. The laptop in front of her was open to a series of pages filled with apartments all way out of her price range, making her silently curse up a storm. She knew she had time, but even in the months that Hinata was pregnant, it was still too precious for her to intrude on.“What are you doing, L/n?”
‘Perfect….’
Looking up with a glare, Y/n sat back in the booth, chewing on her lip in annoyance, “not that it's any of your business, but I'm looking for an apartment. It’s proving to be a bit of a bitch…”
Sasuke smirked, taking the seat across from her (much to her annoyance), and letting his dark eyes meet hers, “the Dobe already getting on your nerves?”
“No. I just don't think it's appropriate for me to continue to intrude on their lives. They are still technically newly wed’s, and deserve their space.” She stated plainly, not completely understanding why she was humoring him with conversation.
“Have you found anything yet?”
Sighing, she closed her laptop with a frown, turning in her seat so that she could bring her knees up to her chest, “plenty… Just none that I can afford.”
Sasuke remained stoic as he studied the (h/c) haired female. The bruises had disappeared from her face, yet a small scar remained on her right brow. It wasn't huge, but it was enough to make his blood boil. Her every feature was exactly the way he remembered her, only slightly more matured and exhausted.
Dark circles could be seen beneath her eyes, while her hair had been pulled back in a lazy ponytail. She wore no makeup, looking very much like she had simply stopped caring all together.
She was stressed. That much was clear the second he saw her through the window, yet he still couldn't ignore the way his heart seemed to pound against his chest when he saw her. Broken, angry, and exhausted, she was still the girl he knew back in school. She was buried beneath a ton of serious misfortune, but he could still see her clear as day.
Sighing, Sasuke looked at Y/n, genuinely hoping to help her in some way, “there is a guest room in my apartment. It's yours if you want it.”
As expected, she looked up at him with a glare, “tch. Yeah right… Living with you is the last thing I need. I'm sure Haruno would just love coming home to see me moving my stuff into her precious ‘Sasuke-kun’s’ apartment. Thanks for the offer, but I really don't feel like repeating history.”
Unamused by her attitude, Sasuke remained serious as a new wave of anger towards the pinkette flared, “then I guess it's a good thing her opinion doesn't matter. I kicked her out the same day I found out you were back.”
She scoffed, finding it amusing that Konoha High’s star couple ended after five years of ‘perfection’, “wow… what happened? Wake up and finally realized that she was a complete and total psychopath?”
“Yes… That, and she was sleeping around behind my back with Sasori.” He stated flatly.
“Oh shit… Sassy? That's brutal. I honestly didn't mean-”
“I suspected it for a while.” His dark eyes met hers, expecting to see them filled with slight amusement at his stupidity. However, it almost seemed as if she felt genuinely sorry for him.
Her eyes had fallen, avoiding his as she bit her lip nervously, “I really am sorry, Sasuke. No matter how dysfunctional a relationship can get, it still hurts to know that they couldn't respect you enough to leave…. They choose to make it worse by lying to you completely, blaming you for their mistakes once they are finally caught….”
