It was the next day, and Y/n had already felt the drastic difference in herself. In the last four months, Sasuke had been the very center of her sanity. The nightmares still plagued her mind, but the Sasuke always seemed ready and willing to drive them away. His touch was calming, respectful, and tender, so drastically different from Jason's touch that she almost didn't know how to handle it. He listened to her, and respected her boundaries. At times, he was protective, keeping a close watch on even their friends to ensure they didn't say or do anything that would make her uncomfortable. He made her feel safe, which was more important to her than anything else, and she loved him for it.

Though she wasn't ready to say those words to him just yet, she still mustered up the courage to place a kiss to his cheek before stepping out of the car in front of Ichiraku’s. The rare grin that spread across his handsome features was genuine as his obsidian hues met hers, “I'll be back to pick you up. Don't hesitate to call if you need anything.”

Y/n grinned back, “you're not coming in for lunch today?”

Sasuke smirked, enjoying the faint sound of disappointment in her voice, “unfortunately, I have a meeting that I can't miss. I'll see you after work okay?”

“Fine, but you're cooking dinner tonight,” she teased, grinning as Sasuke rolled his eyes.

“Tch. You're lucky I love you.”

“I know.”

Warmth spread throughout the ravenette’s body. The genuine tone in y/n’s voice told him that she felt the same. He understood why she couldn't bring herself to say the words out loud, but he could feel it. Not once had she taken him for granted, making her wonder how anyone could have been so cruel to her.

He may have once thought of her as a nuisance, but had long come to learn that Y/n was everything he had ever wanted. If he had things his way, neither of them would be coming to work. They would have been at home with Y/n wrapped in the safety of his arms. However, he would happily settle for making dinner for her later, then get the pleasure of falling asleep with her. For now, he just had to focus on getting to work in time, and let y/n make her own way for the next eight hours of the day.

The morning had passed by smoothly, surprising both Teuchi and Amaya with the surprisingly good mood Y/n was in while she worked. It was like they were seeing the old Y/n for the first time in ages as she greeted customers, and worked diligently to keep them happy. She was humming to herself, which for her was completely out of character.

Suspicious of her odd behavior, Amaya stood beside her and smiled mischievously, “so… You're on a good mood.”

Blushing, y/n smiled to herself as embarrassment flooded through her, “y-yeah…”

“Is it because of Sasuke-kun?”

Y/n spun around, a defensive maneuver to hide the fact that the cheerful brunette had been spot on. Her actions, as obvious as they were, forced an excited squeal from Amaya as she hugged the younger girl from behind, “how romantic! You're blushing! How’d it happen? Did he make the first move? Did you say yes? Did you-”

“Amaya! Slow down, okay? It was kind of even on both our parts… I had a… an episode, and Sasuke told me we could take things slow, and that there was something clearly between us. I agreed, so we kinda became a thing…”

“Kinda? Y/n, this is amazing! Two former rivals reunited and fall in love? It's so cute!” She gushed, her eyes glistening with a sort of high school crush gleam.

All Y/n could was roll her eyes as she walked away. Her cheeks flushed with a mixture of embarrassment and equal adoration etched into her pretty features. She was sure nothing could have possibly walked in until she noticed two familiar faces walk in.
