Ever After

Chapter Twenty-Five

We landed in the middle of the forest. We fell down on the ground,and I lifted Adam up so he was laying with his back on the ground.

"Adam? Adam?" I said his name numerous times, but he didn't wake up. I shook him to see if he'd gasp for air, but he had no response. I felt tears make their way down my cheeks and I leaned over him holding my face in my hands.

He was gone. He sacrificed himself for me, and he was gone. How could I have let him done that? I could have put my magic against hers so he wouldn't have had to do that. I should have pushed him through the portal when I had the chance.

But I didn't, and now thanks to me, he was dead. I covered my face with my hands and tried wiping away the tears, but my eyes were still puffy and my vision was blurry. I didn't see Belle, Jett, or Rapunzel. I didn't even see the palace, just miles of trees. I put my hands back to my mouth to cover my sobbing. My eyes were closed but tears still ran down my face and dripped on my arms.

Then I felt a hand grab softly onto my wrist. My eyes popped open to see Adam, with a weak smile and glint in his open eyes.

"So you do care." He said jokingly. My mouth turned into a huge smile, and I wrapped myself around him in a huge hug. He held me back and I must have hugged him too hard because he asked me to let go because I was cutting off his air supply. I laughed but hugged him even harder. Soon I let go, and looked into his open, and alive, eyes. I must have still been crying, because he lifted a hand to wipe away tears on my cheeks.

He brought his face closer to mine, and I closed my eyes and leaned in too. Our lips were just about to touch when we heard a voice coming from the forest.

"Sorry lovebirds, but the honeymoon comes after the wedding. You want to be alone, how about after we get away from the killer witches who want us dead." Jett said. Adam and I broke apart quickly, just before Rapunzel and Belle came.

"Do you have to ruin everything Jett?" Rapunzel asked.

"Yes, yes I do." He said back. Rapunzel rolled her eyes and Belle walked over to help me up. Jett helped Adam up, who looked him annoyed. I smiled and tried to cover a blush, we were so close to a kiss, but Jett had to interrupt.

"How did you guys get out?" Belle asked.

"I used a portal spell from the Evil Queen's book." I looked around for the book, but it wasn't on the ground. "Oh no." I said, and Adam smirked mischievously.

"Looking for this?" He asked holding up one hand from his hand with the spell book. "And this." He moved his other hand from behind his back to reveal the storybook. I grabbed the spell book from his hand and kissed his cheek.

"Thanks." I said. I saw him blush and stand there with a surprised face. I smiled and held back a laugh while I flipped through the pages until I found the one I was looking for. The portal spell.

"Ready to go home?" I asked Adam, and I said the same spell. He handed Jett the storybook, and and walked over to the portal that would take him back to his kingdom.

"I think we should let these two be alone for a moment. Come on guys." Rapunzel said with a sheepish smile.

"No way, I wanna see this." Jett said.

"I double that." Belle said high fiving Jett. Rapunzel rolled her eyes and grabbed both of them by the ear.

"Go.Now" She said dragging Belle and Jett away from Adam and I, while they yelped out in pain. When they were finally gone we both laughed at what just happened.

"Why don't you come back with me? We could clear your name, you'd be able to go back home." Adam said holding my hand. I flinched when he took it, but answered back.

"No, I can't. Not until I finish what I started with the Queens of Darkness. My 'home' in Calvera is abandoned and destroyed. I need to find out where my real home is." I said looking at the ground. I felt Adam hold my face up to look at him, then he leaned in and pressed his lips to mine. I was stunned for a moment, but kissed back wrapping my arms around his neck. He put his arm around my waist, deepening the kiss.

I never wanted this moment to end, and when Adam broke away I wanted more.

"You know I've wanted to do that ever since I first met you." He said. It was cheesy sure, but sweet at the same time. I rested my forehead against his and held onto him. I didn't want to let go, but I had to. He had to go back to his kingdom, and I had a mission to complete.

I let go of him first and he kissed me quickly again before going into the portal. I touched my lips with my fingers, imagining him still with me. And when Jett, Belle, and Rapunzel came back they all looked at me with a smirk.

"Not. A. Word." I said. They walked over to me, and Jett handed me the storybook. I opened it to the page with my mother fighting the Queens, and my father running with me. I noticed the necklace around my neck, I still had it then. But now I had to get it back. If what I saw in that vision and dream was true, then I would need that necklace to find my mother and my home.

"Next stop, Agrabah." I said. And I reread the portal spell. Another one appeared, and we walked in, straight to find the thief with my necklace.
