Ever After

Chapter Seventeen

The soldiers surrounded us, and without even giving us time to react, they charged. The scene in the courtyard repeated, but this time, the favor was in the soldiers. I tried holding off them as much as I could, but with them pushing us back with their numbers, it seemed futile. The rest of my group tried fighting off the soldiers too, but I knew a losing battle when I saw one. I still couldn't give in though. The losing battles are always the ones you have to fight after all.

I pushed harder against the guard in front of me, and got him down. With my new found strength, I tried turning the tables of this battle. I saw Jett, Belle and Red being able to do the same thing, and for a moment I thought we would win.

I watched Rapunzel whip her hair at some of the guards, who dodged it, but when she went to reel her hair back quickly, they grabbed it. The soldiers started to pull her and I was too busy with my opponents to do anything about it. Rapunzel tried pulling back, but I could see her feet being dragged on the ground.

She was being pulled by the hair like a sibling might do to another sibling, and her head was being pulled with it and I screamed her name. Then Jett took down the soldier in front of him, and ran to Rapunzel, slicing her hair in the middle between her and the guards. The guards feel backwards, and Rapunzel held her now hip length hair. Her normally shiny blond hair had lost it's shine, and she stood shocked there for a moment while the rest of us held off the guards.

Red and I fought against four guards, who were pushing us to the waterfall. I was sliding roughly and struggled to push against the guards trying to get me to fall over the waterfall. I was leaning over the side of the waterfall, with my ankles being splashed with water spray. I closed my eyes getting ready for the fall, when I felt the weight of the guards get off me and I opened my eyes to see Red standing straight, with the guards she was fighting lying in their own blood. I looked away and ran farther away from the waterfall.

Then one of the guards that Red got off me, got up. And instead of going for me, he went for a distracted Red. And before I could scream her a warning, he pushed her off the water fall.

I ran to grab her hand but she was already falling with the water. I looked down in the water, hoping to see a sign of my friend but saw none. I felt my eyes fill up with tears, and also felt the tip of a blade nuzzle my throat. I didn't flinch though. I was too busy gasping at my friend who was pushed over the water fall.

"You're coming with us." The man behind me said. I clenched my fists, my sadness snapped into anger. To my right, I noticed Belle, Jett, and Red all tied on on their knees in front of the soldiers.

"You sure about that?" I said threateningly and I whipped my head around to look at the guard. My vision filled with black spots and the last thing I saw was the guard dropping his sword, looking petrified.

I felt another giant headache take over my senses. My stomach felt empty, and I swear I heard the beating of my heart. I slowly blinked my eyes open, which were resistant to. But I blinked my eyes awake to a black rocky ceiling, and a warm light next to me.

I brought my hand to rub my eyes and head to try and get my headache away. But it didn't. I lifted my self up, balancing myself with my hand on the floor.

"Oh good. You're awake." I heard the familiar voice of Rapunzel say. She walked over to me and sat down next to me. I noticed her before hip length hair was now cut up to her chin. I saw Belle walk over too and she handed me a canteen of water. I took it and drank all of the water inside.

"What happened?" I asked. Belle sat against the other side of the wall of the cave we seemed to be in.

"You went all magic crazy on those guards is what happened." Jett said. He sat on the other side of the cave, and was pocking the fire with a stick, which he threw in after it caught fire.
