The song for this chapter is "Are you that Somebody?" By Aaliyah

Louisa's POV
I had probably gone through my whole closet looking for the right outfit for this date with Sodapop.  When I last talked to him he said not to dress "too fancy" and I am  currently at my wits end with finding an outfit. "You find anything to wear yet?" Malcolm asked from outside my room. I sighed dramatically and flopped back on my bed "No, not yet." "You know the blue dress what he first saw you in the food store in? Maybe you should wear that, it'll remind him of the first time y'all met." He said. Instantly, it was like the gears in my mind started working again when he said that. "Gee thanks, but  I can't believe you thought about that before me." "Well I like to think of myself as smar- Hey! What that supposed to mean?" He shouted in mock anger. "Nothin, you just act slow sometimes." I giggled to myself and proceeded to pull my dress and shoes from the closet.

In about an hour I had my hair down in tight curls, my blue dress on and a pair of white flats. As I made my way downstairs, I heard a low whistle from Malcolm and I immediately rolled my eyes. "Leave me alone, you know I'm just goin' out with a friend for awhile." He wiggled his eyebrows and poked me in my side,  "Whose the friend? Is it a boy? Girl?"  "None of your business, stop buggin me before I tell grandma you had that girl up in this house." I threatened while pointing  my finger in his face. I smiled real sweet in his face afterwards when I saw grandma walk in and immediately grabbed my bag from the kitchen counter and yelled over my shoulder "I'll be back soon, don't wait up!"

Sodapop's POV
I stared at my reflection real hard in the mirror as I tried to perfect my hair for what felt like the 1000th time. "Soda if you put anymore more grease in your hair you'll be a greaseball with legs." joked Steve as he watched me absentmindedly from the hallway. "Would you lay off?" I asked , "I got a date tonight and I don't wanna disappoint!" I grinned as I finally perfected my hair and then began to fix my outfit in the mirror. "She a babe?" Asked Steve as he played with his switchblade he just pulled out of his pocket. "She's something special alright." I said with a deep grin as I brushed past Steve and made my way out of the house. "I'll be back in a few!" I yelled as rushed  outside with all of the supplies for our date.

Louisa's  POV
It was drawing closer and closer to nightfall and I was perched underneath the tree in the old park where Soda told me to meet him. I glanced at the vast expanse of the night sky and was at awe of the twinkling stars contrast to the deep murky black. "Hi" I heard Soda's voice behind me and I immediately turned around to face him. He looked incredibly handsome with his button up shirt and black pants  and his hair looked noticeably tamer than from our last encounters. "Hi" I smiled back got up and enveloped him in a hug, "You look real handsome tonight." His bright blue eyes twinkled in the moonlight as he blushed "Thanks doll, but I think you look even cuter." I grinned before I noticed the picnic basket and small radio he brought with him. "Ready to start this date?" I asked linking my arm with his, "You know it!" He exclaimed.

Sodapop's POV
In an hours time, Louisa and I had eaten all of the food I had brought and for some reason we were now on the topic of how I almost got arrested with Two-Bit for disturbing the peace. "And then Two-Bit, he just flat out tells the fuzz, to F@$k off." "I had to tell the officer that I had no idea who he was and Darry had to come and bail him out later, it was the funniest thing ever!" I finished and clutched my stomach from laughing so hard. "Ahh that was a good laugh." Said Louisa as she grinned real wide and turned her head back to the sky as the moonlight bathed her in a pale glow which made her brown skin shimmer and almost dazzle underneath it.  "My girl" faintly played on the radio as she sighed and shook her head deep in thought, "Soda do you ever  think that the stars in the sky are actually the souls of our loved ones, lookin' down on us, something Ike a guardian angel?" My eyes got misty as it was my turn to stare into the deep expanse of space that seemed to envelop us in it's mystery. "I would sure hope so, my parents died a few years back in a car accident and that's a real comforting thought in thinking they're still around." was a short pause before she finally replied, "I'm sorry for your loss." I looked at her with a half smile and said "It's ok."

We had stayed under the tree a little while longer before we decided it was time to go.I walked with her to the entrance of Greenwood before she suddenly stopped, "I don't think you should go any further before someone sees us but I really did have a ball tonight Soda." She gripped my hands real tight before she placed a kiss on my cheek and waved me goodbye. I paused for a second and then the dumbest grin formed on my face before I shouted back "I had a great time too doll!"
