Sodapop's POV
The sweat beaded down my forehead as I bit my lip in concentration trying to get this car engine to work. The Soc girl inside the car won't quit twirling her hair through her fingers and trying to make small talk with me. Her presence seemed to reek of negativity so for the most part, I ignored her. She scoffed in annoyance for what felt like the hundredth time as her flirting was left unreciprocated by me. "Alright everything's ship shape on here." I said with a grin as I reached to wipe the excess oil off of my forehead. "Thanks Soda!" Said the Soc girl flirtatiously as she pulled out of the DX and drove back over to the Eastside.

Steve who was on the other side of the repair shop whistled lowly at me before saying "Boy was that broad a babe a what?" Shrugging my shoulders before taking a swig of the Pepsi I had out I replied " I've seen better." Steve shook his head in a playful manner before flashing his crooked smile "Man you sure are a piece of work." Paying Steve no attention, I went back inside of the DX. Whistling to "Jailhouse Rock" I combed my greasy hair back into it's original position and took a glance at the clock. It was almost 8 o'clock which meant that I was almost off from work. Sighing I started thinking about how stressed out Darry has been lately. I feel like I hardly talk to him anymore, when he isn't exhausted sprawled out across the couch he's always on Pony and I's back.

After 20 more mind numbing minutes of watching the clock and tidying up shop it was finally time to go. As I stepped outside of the gas station I was instantly met with the site of a navy blue sky speckled with stars. I grinned under the light of the full moon as this meant that I can enjoy a late night walk with Louisa under the cloak of night. She was heading back down to Alabama for her birthday in a few days and I just wanted to celebrate with her for a little while before she leaves. "Hey Soda you up to going down to the Dingo?" Steve asked standing right beside me. "Nah I'm going on a walk before I go home, I'll see you later." "Watch out for Socs while you're out there." Steve warned as he patted my back before walking in the direction of his house. With his warning in the back of my mind I was on my way to Greenwood.

The walk to Greenwood was surprisingly pleasant, there were no Socs waiting to jump me and no greaser around to distract me. I fiddled with the promise ring that I had in my pocket waiting to be gifted to Louisa, I had been saving up some money to pay for a nice ring for Louisa and I'm really hoping that she will like it. In a matter of minutes I was standing outside by the sign that said Greenwood and I could see Louisa fast approaching.

Louisa's POV
I smiled big and bright as I ran towards Soda who already had his arms out to the sides waiting to envelop me in a hug. I crashed straight into him and wrapped him in a tight embrace with my face buried in his chest. He lifted my chin up so I could look him in his eyes and he gave me a tender kiss. We both pulled away to breath and rested our foreheads together as we smiled in a daze. "Hey doll," said Soda as he kissed the tips of my nose. "Hi Soda," I grinned as we began to walk away from the entrance of Greenwood.

"Why haven't you been calling me?" I asked after a few silent minutes of walking down the lit streets of Tulsa. "C'mon doll, you know I've been busy, I'm sorry." He pouted grabbing my hand  and laying  a kiss upon it. "Yeah yeah." I said rolling my  eyes playfully. "How does it feel to almost be 16?" Soda asked with his blue eyes illuminated under the moonlight. "I feel old." I responded plainly as we turned the corner and started walking through downtown Tulsa. "Don't worry I'll still like ya even if you're an old grandma." Soda giggled as I joined in on his laughter.

Suddenly Soda stopped walking and began to look real nervous as he fiddled with something in his pocket. "Hey Soda, are you alright?" I inquired with a raised eyebrow as he continued to fiddle with whatever was in his pocket. "I'm fine, it's just that I wanted to give you some thing, a little goin' away present." When he had finally worked up the courage, he pulled out a suede black ring box and opened it to present a sparkling silver promise ring.

Sodapop's POV
Louisa looked real surprised when I pulled out the ring, she covered her mouth in shock and her big brown eyes went as wide as saucers. "Oh Soda I love it!" She exclaimed her voice thick with emotion. I grinned slipping the ring on her wedding finger and engaging in a passionate kiss with her. My knees start to buckle and I swear every time we kiss it's like my soul leaves my body and I can only think  about how well her lips form against mine. We broke apart from the kiss after a few seconds and just stared in a comfortable silence. "I love you." I said without even thinking about the repercussions of doing so. Her eyes grew wide  again as she began to stutter over her words. "Y-You what?" She asked, her dark skin glowing in the moonlight and distracting me for a second. "I love you." I said again firmly without breaking eye contact with her. Before she could say anything else  we were interrupted by hooting and hollering behind us, I saw Louisa look behind me and her facial expression grow scared. I turned around too to see what all the commotion was about and my skin grew pale.

Socs.
