 Chapter 1

Frank

It got dark quickly after Coach Hedge, Reyna, and Nico had left. Since Jason and Leo had volunteered to have the first watch Frank decided that he was going to get some rest, before it was his turn with Hazel. He was passing thought the ships only hallway when he saw Percy and Annabeth sneaking into Percy's room. Which was strange because both of them were supposed to be sleeping. But the looks on their faces said that something had happened.  He tried not to follow them but his legs betrayed him.

Eavesdropping on his friends conversation he could hear Percy's voice through the door saying ".... if we keep having flashbacks then it's only fair to tell the others. Not only will it risk our lives but it could risk the others as well. Lets promise right now EVERYTHING, we will share everything. If it happens again."

Annabeth mumbled a reply he couldn't make out. With that Percy tried to respond but his voice cracked at the beginning.

This was definitely a touchy subject, what could be bothering Percy that bad? What really went down in Tartarus? There were too many questions and too little answers. He could understand the two not wanting to talk about the subject, because he flashed back to when he had to kill hundreds of cow monsters on a bridge in Italy, and how hard it had been afterwards to put his actions into words for Hazel and Nico. He suspected that Percy and Annabeth were going through the same thing. At least they had each other though Tartarus, unlike Nico who only had himself. Frank felt a sorry for the guy, even if he was little creepy.

Footsteps, he cursed under his breath as he quickly changed into a Falcon and flew into his room. Closing the door behind him in human form he began pacing across his room in an attempt to figure out what he had just heard.

He began thinking back to his first quest and how Percy never once acted anything but heroic. He was an unbelievably powerful demigod. To Frank Percy always seemed to be able to overcome any monster in his path. But with Annabeth helping him they were a dynamic duo. He couldn’t think of any monster with the battle skills and strategies to beat them. Soon his brain began coming up with endless possibilities on what could’ve happened to them in the pit. On that happy note he crashed onto his bed and entered the worst dream of his life.

. . .

He was walking through a red steamy cave, it felt like a cave, but its scale was bigger than most caves.  He decided that he would call it a hole in the middle of the ground. The only light he could see was really far from him, naturally he followed the light. As he got closer he realized it was a river made completely out of fire. His pulse quickened at the thought, but then went to ease knowing that his stick was safe inside a fireproof bag. It was then that he saw all the monsters. Panic consumed him. He realized where he was he was in Tartarus.

“Yes little demigod I have brought you here to Tartarus”.

He recognized that voice all to well. Gaea.

“Because this is a dream you wont get to experience the depths of Tartarus fully like you friends did. Anyway I have a proposition for you, become my spy, bring Annabeth Chase and Percy Jackson to me in Athens in eleven days and I will spare you from continued torment.”

He replied, “ I’m not going to give into your threats. ”

Well then, until you accept my offer you will wish you were dead. Hero by day, hero by night being on the wrong side can get very tiring young demigod. I will await your answer son of Mars.” With that she disappeared.

He spent a second rethinking her last couple of lines “ Hero by day, hero by night being on the wrong side can get very tiring young demigod.” He wondered what that could mean. Then he saw it, an army had just emerged from the top of the hill he had just climbed. With his back to the fire river and the army cutting of all other sides, he had no other choice but to charge.
