Chapter 10
Hazel
Hazel was a bit embarrassed about her, what would she call it… venomous assault on Leo. Yep that sounds right, she thought. You see Hazel hadn’t been felling like herself after her dreams. After Percy was dropped off at his room, instead of the infirmary, Hazel had gone to her room to get some rest. As soon as she had closed her eyes though, that’s when trouble began. The trouble was the Goddess Hecate. Should I really be describing Hecate as trouble, Hazel thought to herself. Part of her deemed it impossible that even a God to have the power to read another’s thoughts, yet after all she had seen in her months in this new world, she had her doubts.
Hazel began halfheartedly picking at her blueberry muffin. She had gone for the muffin because back in her days she would get it as a special treat, and because it made her happy. Today the muffin wasn’t doing its job.
When Hecate had pulled hazel out of a dreamless sleep to give her information on their tasks at hand Hazel knew it was big. The reason? All of what Hecate was telling Hazel was that it had to do with her.
In the dream Hecate hadn’t begun their meeting with a “Hi, how are you doing?” instead she began it with “Right now we know that Pasiphae can be undone with strong magic, so we have a starting point.” From there Hecate proceeded to show Hazel little tricks she can use to start her magic quickly and how to make her magic’s endurance much longer. Hazel or rather the Hazel in her dream practiced and practiced until Hecate was satisfied with her. Hecate had then released Hazel to do as she pleased for the rest of the night.
Naturally Hazel had slept first, and then gone to see how Frank was holding up in the infirmary. Then the whole Leo fiasco took place and that had soiled her attempts at a good mood. She Hazel, dare she say the most levelheaded one aboard the Argo II was loosing her cool.
Hazel was torn, part of her wanted to go and be the perfectionist she is and practice her magic until she was satisfied with it, and another part of her wanted not to have all his power and responsibility weighing her down. Deep down she knew she would chose one day, but she was scared of making the wrong decision.
Piper’s entrance into the mess hall caused hazel to knock her coffee to the floor.
“Oh, my I’m so sorry Hazel, I didn’t think anyone would be in here.” Piper said. She was blushing slightly, and that lead Hazel to believe it was sincere.
Since when am I so observant? Hazel asked herself. She took a second to think of what to say to piper then said “No no it was all me, I guess I have the coffee jitters this morning.” The introvert part of herself didn’t want Piper o know anything was wrong, so Hazel continued to play it safe. “I’m sorry about this morning, I shouldn’t have been making a scene.”
“Hazel its ok, everyone of us has an off day,” Piper said smiling. “Is there anything particular that’s bothering you?”
“Ummmm.”Hazel thought quickly searching for the right answer. “ If you count sea sickess bothering then yes.” Hazel didn’t need to act for this part because it was true. “Instead of enjoying the beautiful scenery, I’ve gotten used to staring at the toilet bowl.”
Piper let out a small but genuine laugh and said “Well when I was younger my dad and I would always fly to the set where the directors were shooting the film he would star in. I never enjoyed those flights because I used to get air sick.”
“Really?” Hazel said. This had surprised her, Piper used to get airsick, wow.
“Thankfully though, I was fortunate enough to grow out of it.” Piper continued. “I’m sure the same will go for you to Hazel.” Piper got up and said I’m going to wake the rest of the guys, you wanna help?” With that Hazel and Piper got out of the mess hall and down to the cabins to wake everyone for a new day.
So this chapters kind off short, I may be accidently reverting back t short chapters again –cringes-. But maybe tomorrow I’ll add a little more to the end of this chapter. Hope you guys enjoyed, green_dino out!
