"what-what do you mean?" youngjae stutters, frowning.
"jaebum and i are dating. so i don't know why he would be around someone like you," jinah eyes him up and down, disgust written on her face.
"he never told me about you. i don't believe you!" youngjae shakes his head.
"are you the one he proposed to?" jinah asks with a smile.
ouch. youngjae hears his own heart break at that. that can't be true. jaebum would never do that and lead him on while having a fiancée, right? now, the tears are falling freely down his face and he wipes them furiously with the sleeves of his hoodie.
"aw, look at you crying. so pathetic. anyways, i just wanted to tell you to stay away from jaebum or you'll face the consequences," she warns him. "bye, honey."
youngjae watches as she arrogantly walks away, her high heels clicking against the wooden floor.
"watch where you're going!" she exclaims loudly.
soon after, yugyeom appears. the tall boy frowns as he approaches youngjae's apartment.
"that lady was very irritable," yugyeom scoffs but then sees youngjae's tear-stained face. "hyung? what happened? why are you crying?"
the older looks up at yugyeom, his eyes red and puffy and his lips are quivering. the sight breaks the younger's heart. he understands that something's wrong.
"come on, let's go inside."
yugyeom grabs his friend by the arm and drags him to the couch. he closes the door and runs back to youngjae who blankly stares into space. yugyeom sits next to him and wraps an arm around the older's shoulders.
"what happened? was it that mean lady? did she say something to you?" yugyeom asks worriedly.
"yes..." youngjae brings his knees to his chest and hugs them tightly. "jaebum has a fiancée, yugyeom. he has a fucking fiancée and he didn't tell me."
yugyeom's eyes widen but he just hugs his hyung tighter, rubbing his back comfortingly. youngjae starts crying again, burying his face into yugyeom's shirt and soaking it with his tears.
"how could he lie to me? what am i to him? an experiment? did he want me to be his first gay experience?" youngjae asks bitterly.
"shh. jaebum hyung would never do that, there has to be an explanation," yugyeom shakes his head, he doesn't want to believe that jaebum did something like that.
"i don't want to see him. can you stay with meforawhile?" youngjae weakly asks.
"of course, hyung," yugyeom softly smiles at him.
the older lies down and rests his head on the taller's lap, closing his eyes. yugyeom doesn't hesitate to run his fingers through youngjae's brown hair in an attempt to soothe his friend. it seems to work because after a few minutes, youngjae's breathing is steady and calm.
"sleep well, hyung."
yugyeom stays at youngjae's house until late at night. it's almost eleven when someone rings the bell. the tall male gently takes youngjae's head off his lap and goes answer the door.
"yugyeom. what are you still doing here?" jaebum asks, raising an eyebrow.
"ah, hyung. i think you should leave," yugyeom says, looking back at youngjae.
"why? is youngjae alright? is he sick?" the older worriedly asks.
"yes, he's not feeling well and he told me to let you know that he'd call you," yugyeom lies with a smile.
"okay?" jaebum is a bit skeptical but he nods anyway. "if he said so, tell me if anything happens?"
the taller nods quickly and watches as jaebum walks away. he waits until he's out of sight and goes back inside. he carefully wakes up his friend and tells him he's leaving but to call him if anything happens. youngjae just nods and when he knows yugyeom left, he takes his phone and turns it off before going to his room. he collapses onto his bed and hides under his blanket. the brown-haired doesn't want to think about jaebum but his mind doesn't listen to him.
"fuck," he mutters when he feels warm salty tears on his face yet again.
