"do you think this girl is pretty?" youngjae asks, mindlessly playing with the rings on his boyfriend's fingers.

the two of them were watching a movie at youngjae's, snuggled up in a blanket. jaebum had his arms wrapped around the younger's waist, his chest pressed against his back. the older chuckles at youngjae's question and shrugs a bit.

"she is. but guess who's prettier?" he asks rhetorically. "you," he replies, pecking youngjae's cheek.

the latter smiles, a bit fishing for the compliment but it always feels really nice to hear that from jaebum. always.

"the answer is always you, baby."

"really? tell me who's uglier. me or yoo jaesuk?" the younger asks, raising an eyebrow.

"you."

youngjae gasps dramatically, feigning shock and making jaebum laugh loudly. the latter tenderly kisses the spot under youngjae's ear.

"i'm just joking, babe. you're the most beautiful human being i've ever met. i'm so lucky to have found you."

youngjae thinks he can hear his own heart melt at the older's words. he turns his head so he can look at jaebum properly. the younger can feel a smile creeping up onto his face. the jaebum effect.

"where have you been all my life? i think i've found the man of my dreams."

"i like that idea," jaebum says, thumb stroking the younger's cheek. "i like that idea a lot."

he leans in and gently captures youngjae's lips. their lips move in sync as both of them enjoy the warm feeling surrounding them. when they pull away, youngjae knows he never felt happier in his whole life.

"we won't be able to see each other often. i don't want that..." youngjae pouts as he clings onto jaebum.

after their finals were over, summer vacation had officially started. youngjae had been so excited to be able to spend it with his boyfriend but jaebum had some other plans. a week prior, he had told the younger that he was going to japan to do a course with a movie director and that he couldn't miss the chance. youngjae had been a bit sad of course but he knew he had to support his boyfriend. although he really didn't want to let him go.

jaebum is leaving today and the younger is being annoyingly cute. jaebum chuckles as youngjae has a strong hold on him, arms circling around the older's waist in an attempt to stop jaebum from leaving him.

"baby, i have to go," jaebum says, hugging youngjae back.

"two months is too long," he pouts, burying his face into jaebum's neck.

"i'll make sure to call you every time i get the chance, okay? i promise," the older says, grabbing youngjae's face and making him look up.

"you'll call me every day, right?"

"every day."

jaebum pecks him on the lips until youngjae's pout transform into a smile. the older smiles fondly and plants a kiss on the other's forehead, the latter closing his eyes. youngjae sighs as he hears the voice announcing that jaebum must board the plane.

"i'll miss you," the younger says softly.

"i'll miss you too. i'll go now, okay?"

youngjae nods but doesn't let go of jaebum's hands. the latter brings them to his mouth and kisses the younger's knuckles before forcing him to release him. jaebum starts walking away but turns around and makes a heart with his arm to youngjae who returns it with a small smile. as jaebum walks away for good, the younger can't ignore the immediate feeling of emptiness that takes over his body.

he knows what that means.

he's falling in love with jaebum.
