TEN YEARS LATER:

"Hayley, honey! Don't go too far! I need to see you." I shout at my youngest daughter. She was going off on her own mission, playing with a boy that was on the beach with us.

Her big brother was off somewhere gallivanting in the waves.

Me and Ezra have been married nine years, when I hit the rape old age of 25 I decided I wanted a child and soon me and Ezra were making a baby named Luke. He was our cute little eight year old energizer bunny.

Hayley, my five year old daughter was three years later. She wasn't planned, but she wasn't wanted any less. I loved her and Luke exactly the same.

Ezra and I had a wedding fit for royalty. We married in a venue near home, bordering on the lake and we still love the memories made that day. My mom walked me down the aisle (unfortunately my father couldn't get his head out of his ass, even for his daughter's wedding. And trust me we found him and invited him.)

Hayley's little ponytail bobbed up and down as she played in the ocean. Making me think of the day she was born.

She was so beautiful. Her blue eyes looked at me expectantly. As if to say: "why did you take me out? Did I do something?"

And unfortunately, I couldn't tell her "no". Hailey was born with the cord around her neck. She gave a good fight but, in the end she almost died and she had an early birth that could've given her a defect.

But, thank God it didn't. Hayley is a healthy little girl with her father's dark hair and her mother's blue eyes.

She was the most beautiful person I have ever seen in my whole life. And I loved her. More than anything, I loved her and Luke.

Luke, being my eldest, unfortunately got the short end of the stick. He skipped right past Ezra's looks and barreled straight into my sandy brown hair.

At least he got Ezra's eyes. But, he got my form and apparently he's a dead ringer.

Ezra says he likes it. He says that at least one of his children is as beautiful as I am. He never complains though about Hayley. He loves her just as much as Luke and he thinks she is beautiful beyond compare.

Ezra was now a respected Psychiatrist. He sometimes came home and would lay it on me that things became too much sometimes. Mostly, because he had to deal with private patients and then patients assigned to him by a hospital he worked at. So, when someone came in who wanted to commit suicide Ezra had to deal with them.

It sometimes took a huge toll on him, hearing all those people's suffering. But, he never quit his job. He said it gave him a reason to get up in the mornings.

Me, on the other hand, was still a Travel Agent and I loved every minute of it. I found myself sometimes booking holidays for me and the family even!

And that's how we came to sit on a beach in California, just taking a load off.

Emma was here too. Emma was now a very famous writer. She published six amazing novels that took apart her whole life.

She was constantly in front of a computer these days trying to finish her next one in time for the deadline her publishers gave her.

She's always complaining that it was time consuming and that she could do much better things with her time. But, I knew that she secretly loved it.

Emma was a person that always loved writing. In high school she used to write poems and give them to me to read and I always marveled at how amazing they were.

She decided to make it a career after she dropped out of college. She was studying Journalism, but found that she didn't enjoy writing about other's tragedy. So she quit it and wrote her own suffering out in novel after novel.

The minute they hit the shelves they sold out.

So it wasn't much of a surprise that the publishers always tried to milk more put of her. Of course, they would want to make money.

She was the fastest way.

My mother passed a year back. Since then my sister and I lost contact.

When my mother passed she realized life is too short and she wanted to travel Europe. So she did.

And eventually, she never called any more. I always assumed she was somewhere on a beach flirting with a guy.

I didn't bother her much. I had my own life, and didn't have time to worry too much about what she was up to. A full time mother was hard enough on my blood pressure.

Of course, being with Ezra made everything so much better. I could say each morning that I loved waking up to the love of my life's face next to mine. I could say that I was lucky to be with someone who loved me as much as him.

And I was. I was undoubtedly lucky.

Just then, he came to sit next to me on the sand and took me in his arms, so I sat with my back against his, his arms around my thin frame.

"You okay, darling? You look far off." He says and kisses my forehead .

"I'm perfectly fine. Where did Luke go?" I hastily asked him, beginning to wonder where my son was.

"He's over there. He made some new friends that are entertaining him. Seems that you did teach him a couple things about friendliness. He smiled in their direction the moment he saw them." He said and laughed slightly.

I looked up at him then.

"I love you Ezzie." I said and he smiled down at me.

"I love you too my beautiful Annie." He said and kissed me fully on the lips.
