Chapter 13
Ben P.O.V.
When we walked downstairs it had begun to fill with family and friends. They were dressed in designer from head to toe and they reeked of money, but that's the Waters family for you.
The first family members to walk up and introduce themselves were my twin cousins, Jasmine and Yasmine.
"Oh, my gosh you are so much prettier than Mackenzie." Jasmine exclaimed.
"I told you the Waters don't downgrade." Yasmine shrugged.
Afia raised her eyebrows and said, "Thank you?"
"It is no problem hun'." Jasmine said flicking her hand away.
"Plus, you are going to need some allies, another thing about the Waters is that they are mildly racist." Yasmine explained.
"Not Ben of course he has always been about helping out others ever since we were little he would always give his allowance to the poor." Jasmine said smiling.
"Afia these are my cousins Jasmine and Yasmine, Jasmine and Yasmine this is my girlfriend Afia." I said introducing them.
"If you want to remember us Yasmine has the bigger nose." Jasmine said making a jab towards Yasmine.
"I do not!" Yasmine exclaimed. They quickly started arguing on which one had the bigger nose and I led her into the kitchen and that's where we met Grandma Waters,
"Ben, do you want you your old grandmother to die of a heart attack, there plenty of nice white young ladies in Texas." My grandmother exclaimed looking at Afia in disgust.
"Nice to see you grandma." Ben said quickly taking Afia away from his grandmother before she gave the old racist hag a piece of her mind.
"'Plenty of nice white young ladies in Texas', my ass." Afia grumbled.
"Try to be nice." I whispered in her ear.
She turned her head so they were only inches apart and said, "If they bite, I bite back harder."
I stared at her for a moment and said, "Okay fair enough."
She nodded her head and we continued, I introduced her to whoever walked up to her, I had to admit that I was proud of her when she didn't say anything when my Aunt Mary stated loudly when we passed by her, "You know Ben is too good to be having them mixed mutts, so let's hope that this is just a phase."
If I could take her away from being here right now I would do it in a heartbeat, she was sipping on her sparkling cider and was listening in on a new topic of argument with the twins.
"Hey, do you want to get a breath of fresh air?" I asked.
She gave me a grateful nod and before we walked outside I grabbed my football and my car keys.
Without looking over my shoulder we went outside and rushed to my car, "Where are we going?" She said getting in the car.
"To the place, I always go when there is a lame party going on." I shrugged backing out of the driveway.
We drove in a comfortable silence and just listened to the radio, we parked in the school's parking lot. "Why are we here?" She said turning to me.
"Because I always come here to the football field, now you might want to take off your heels." I said grabbing the football.
Afia quickly took off her heels and I got out the car and went to her side and opened the door, "Now get on." I said.
"On your back?" She laughed.
